1st live-action film of 'Gundam' anime in works

First live action film? Hardly.

Everyone seems to have forgotten (some say rightly so) G-Savior, made nearly 20 years ago.

FYI, Legendary is a Chinese owned studio.

Gundam has spawned a globally successful franchise including sequels, spinoffs, plastic models and video games.

It is very successful in asia, especially in Hong Kong and Taiwan. But not globally successful.

I wonder why Sunrise would take the risk of making a live action film which, looking at all the past attempts, is likely to fail. What is wrong with a new series in anime?

I don't know how large but there is a solid fan base in the western nations considering I had been nagged by people in their 30's and early 40's coming from Europe and the US to take them on a pilgrimage to Diver City.

What's wrong with anime? Disney/Pixar have no issue drawing crowds in America, and they are animated (CGI). Did you wanna do in CGI instead? That way, at least the characters would resemble how they look in the anime, rather than checking credits to figure out who's who (e.g. blue haired characters tend not to have blue hair in the live action; eyes not the size of golf balls).

Oh and from another business perspective...voice actors get paid less than live action actors. #keepinanime

Google and you can find its information on Wikipedia. It is a 2000 Canadian live action television film produced as a joint effort between the animation studio Sunrise, and an independent film production company. Also you can find the movie on YouTube.

So in other words, it'll have a release in 3 cities in the US, maybe a dozen in Europe, and will star a bunch of 'talent' from Johnny's and other agencies.
