The fourth annual Kansai Music Conference (KMC) will be held from Sept 14 to Sept 17 over four days at various venues in Osaka. All events will be open to the public.
KMC has become the fastest growing independently run music industry event in Japan, citing 450% growth in the first three years. There are many music festivals in Japan, but KMC is the only globally oriented music conference, featuring not only live performances but also seminars, workshops, and opportunities for networking.
This year's program includes live performances from over 60 different artists, spanning all genres from rock and pop through classical and jazz, as well as traditional and ethnic music. Highlights include Katya (Los Angeles-based rocker and blossoming TV celebrity), Hidesetsu Fujimoto (Shamisen master and teacher), osh10 (Australian electronic artist), and Wes Coas (world traveling hip hop artist). From the opening party at Flamingo the Arusha on the evening of Sept 14 to the official After Party at minami horie ZERO on the evening of the 17th, musicians from five continents will have performed at over a dozen venues all over Osaka.
Conference attendees will experience the ongoing theme of KMC, "Building Bridges With Music," as Japanese-English bilingual events, seminars, and workshops give them the chance to learn and experience limitless opportunities in music throughout Japan and worldwide. Every year, musicians and industry professionals gather at KMC, resulting in new collaborative, international communication and exchange. There is no charge to attend the conference.
KMC gives international artists the chance to show themselves and their music to a diverse audience in a rare collaborative and supportive environment. Each year, connections are made among artists and industry figures at the conference, having already resulted in successful international tours in Japan, Australia, England, and other locations.
In addition to the conference, KMC supports tourism and cultural awareness of the Kansai area, and further, organizes and sponsors events year-round, including benefits and charity events, networking events, and music showcases. KMC has strong ties to local tourist organizations, having secured official support from the City of Osaka, the Japan National Tourism Organization, the Osaka Tourism & Convention Bureau, and numerous other organizations.
