I'm happy with this choice - she is very pleasing on the eye.

There's already a Dalek playing the British PM
Michael Craig
It's about time!

I think a Dalek should play the next Dr Who
Luddite
I think she's a good choice. Very excited.

Not far-fetched at all but only Missy has done the gender-switching thing on-screen. Oh, and the General.

They've been laying the groundwork for this for a while longer than that - in The Doctor's Wife in 2011 they mentioned another Time Lord who had switched genders, and then it couldn't possibly be off-limits for the Doctor to do it one day. Well, if she's a really good actress I'm all for it.

She was great in "Attack the block"

There's something I've learned over the many years I've watched the show; change is a constant and change is inevitable. Can't wait to see Jodie Whittaker in the role.
Although, she won't be the first woman to play the Doctor. That honour went to Joanna Lumley in the non-canon adventure "Curse of the Fatal Death" some 20 years back. Written by current showrunner; Steven Moffat.
And it's hardly far fetched to have a female Timelord who travels through time and space is it?
The Rani, Romana, Missy etc...

I figured the next Doctor would be a woman since the Master regenerated into a woman awhile ago.
