Lots of down-votes and upset people over this. Must be a very controversial decision.

I'm going to reserve judgement on Takumi until I've listened to his work on Spotify.

Winning a Grammy is no mean feat - let alone for a foreigner.

The global album award goes to a foreigner almost every time... Just saying.

Someone wins something, a bunch of people who ‘don’t care about awards’ log in especially to post “who?”

I think they care about awards more than I do. And I know who the winners are.

"Best Global Album" is shorthand for "music no one has ever listened to, nor interested in listening to in their lives".

This comment is shorthand for “I live in a bubble”.

Look maybe language is deal breaker, and perhaps I am cynical, please don't let the grammys and all of their strange and craziness decide the international future of popular music in japan.

Don't let a corporate collar and tie decide, when there could be a hidden lair of innovative musical wonderment hide behind a bush

Congratulations to Japanese musician and composer Masanori Takumi Grammy win. Best Global Music Album award

I feel the Grammy jury boxed ticked, Sorry to whine.

Many a year Japanese musicians/songwriters have been overlooked

Hikuru Utada 2022 release of Bad Mode.

Also Wagakki Band overlooked time and again for a unique fusion of rock/metal and Japanese traditional music/instruments

Blimey, the bloke in the blue jacket behind him doesn't look well pleased!

Japan has had those for 60 years and counting, corporate know nothing about it.

Isn't all music "global"? I mean, his music is lovely but I dont' get the category name.

I just listened to "Sakura" and I loved it. Now this news give me an incentive to know a lot more about his works.

If you look at the long list the Academy has there are so many categories to win and best world album goes to others who live overseas somewhere else in the world.

Never even heard of him.

Big up to Takumi-san! Winning a Grammy is no mean feat - let alone for a foreigner.

Will be putting Takumi's albums on Spotify later today for sure!

Who?

-4 ( +9 / -13 )

Congrats. Rock and roll can be tough. Well done. It's a dog eat dog game.

Anyone here actually heard of him ?

I have. He worked with Sly and Robbie.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

He probably have not lived in Japan for decades, Japanese always try to be part of Japanese, that live lives that they want to live ,but cannot do them in Japan

Anyone here actually heard of him ?

Probably not many but now the whole country will love him and shower him with affection as if they were always there supporting him. Revisit: Osaka, Naomi, for proof. He's not 'haafu' so they can feel even more proud.

Congratulations.

Unless there's either 'sakura' or 'sayonara' in a song,I don't consider it to be Japanese.
