Not a fan of Kim either, but bugle boy is right. Japan is the mecca of manufactured celebrities.

Americans created a condom brand called 'Kimono', and nobody made a fuss about that.

Technically, a condom is a kimono...

.

The change has nothing to do with cultural sensitivity.

It's a s marketing move.

A BIG lobby squeezed her to make the change.

The only reason this is news is because it has the name 'Kardashian' attached to it.

Well, she listened to the complaints and criticism, and has acted upon it without trying to excuse herself. Good for her. It's a lot more than people in positions of power do when they crap on people's lives.

I always find it strange when Japan complains of cultural insensitivity... glass houses, stones etc etc

It may have been a publicity stunt. She got lots of publicity. Instead of using shapewear, we should just get in shape.

Luv it. No sooner had I completed an article saying this was a publicity stunt and once she had garnered enough free advertising, he would announce a name change and get some more free advertising, the news came in that she was doing just what I and numerous others had predicted.

Another solution could be for people to stop being so insensitive.

I meant to say "sensitive". People should stop being so sensitive.

As long as she doesn't name it 着物 what's the problem?

She will now name it “Kimchi”

Har! Bulgogi would be even better!

Another solution could be for people to stop being so insensitive. I know, difficult task to accomplish this decade.

I think the major issue was that she tried to trademark the word "Kimono" in a number of markets for this brand. How successful she would have been defending this is anyone's guess as it is a fairly generic word in common usage.

Dont hurt the Japanese’ feelings. They are delicate and considerate. Must considerate their feelings.

KimOhCheat 気持ちいい!!

Fair play to her. The Kimono has been woven into the very fabric of Japanese society and it's understandable that KK's venture would cause some upset.

Fat cow.

Japan played right into her greedy hands. But then she was playing to one of the most gullible and easily angered nations on earth so not hard to do

It's dumb people like you who spends ridiculous amount of time to comment on any news of annoyingly manufacturing celebrities.

Go out, hike and trek the world!

Hehe.  Her husband calls himself Yeezy (like Jesus) and no one complains.
