New generation Bay City Rollers to perform 2 nights in Tokyo

Hailing from Scotland, the Bay City Rollers were the world’s biggest, original boy band who rose to fame in the 1970s with pop classics such as “Saturday Night,” and “Don’t Let The Music Die.”

The Bay City Rollers released 12 studio albums and two live albums, selling over 300 million records worldwide. The classic power-pop songs that spawned the worldwide phenomenon known as Rollermania have now been injected with new life, bringing in a new generation of younger fans, while rekindling the excitement of the '70s for the long-standing existing fan base.

In order for the spirit, memory and legacy of the Bay City Rollers to continue, award winning Scottish musician and producer, Stuart “Woody” Wood, sought out suitable, accomplished musicians to become the new generation of Bay City Rollers for today. He has brought together a dynamic group of young and talented musicians, each with a wealth of experience under their belts.

The Bay City Rollers are back and better than ever, and ready to take on the world, turning it tartan once more, First stop… Tokyo on June 7-8.

Venue: Shinjuku März Dai1tokiwa Bld.B1F 2-45-1 Kabukicho, Shinjuku-ku.

Woody is not a very good singer, pushed on by his wife for the big bucks she hopes to make, he was always causing trouble because he looked like a chipmunk compared to the other good looking lads. Listen to him on you tube before you buy tickets, Les was the main singer , still has it , they only made it big when Lesley joined the group.

But man, it is 2018 and George Clinton is still going strong.

And long may he continue bringing us the funk. Saw him in London some years ago. Great night!

I went to several funk and disco concerts back in the 90s with groups having all of their members still going though some on their last leg. But man, it is 2018 and George Clinton is still going strong.

My sisters drove me crazy with their roller mania the first time. I don’t want to have to relive it. I seriously hope this doesn’t mean the return of roller stroller pants.

A one and a two and a three.....S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y.. NIGHT!

Does 20% purity make them more or less awful than the original?

pop classics such as “Saturday Night,” and “Don’t Let The Music Die.”

C'mon, its the Rollers! They have much better known songs. "Bye Bye Baby" and "I Only Wanna Be With You".

Most versions have it that the Rollers are just another of the many bands in pop history who've been badly ripped off, so I wouldn't begrudge them this, even if its mostly new members.

I just realized My Age. I saw them once

Dango Bong. By the way if hey are scottish why name the band as if they are from San francisco?

This is how they got the name...In 1966 bassist Alan Longmuir, his younger brother, drummer Derek Longmuir and their schoolfriend, lead singer Gordon "Nobby" Clark, founded The Saxons in Edinburgh, Scotland. Soon after, they changed to The Bay City Rollers by throwing a dart at a map of the United States, which landed near Bay City, Michigan.

The guys Woody has assembled are talented and so is he. If you take time to actually check them out, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you hear.

Fantastic news! Hoping Woody will bring his Bay City Rollers to the USA - he keeps the class in this act and the new band is injecting new life into these songs. They sound fabulous!

I'm curious.

Couldn't be any worse than than the metal, hip hop, rap, pop crap they put out today.

And the lyrics these days, it seems they're not even important as long as it rhymes.

Apparently they threw a dart at a map of the USA and it landed at Bay City Michigan.

Good job it didn't land at "Kickapoo" Kansas ;)

Woody from the Bay City Rollers and some other blokes. There are so many versions of BYC touring in the UK, I saw Les McKeweon's Bay City Rollers a few years back. That was a laugh.

By the way if hey are scottish why name the band as if they are from San francisco?

Indeed. Why are Texas called Texas when they hail from Glasgow? Why are Mars Volta so-called when they hail from Texas etc...

Seriously, this is like the latter day New Monkees. Anyone remember them? I have a feeling this will be the same kind of thing.
