Looking forward to seeing Parasite. A lot of good work coming out of Korea and Japan. There is a lot of talent in China, but art does not flourish under dictatorships.

IMO, Antonio Banderas is underappreciated here in the States.

So, let's speak about poors, migrants, etc, and you win. I wonder how much these prizes have to do with the quality of the movies rather with the fact to touch some politically correct topics, since we live in an age of fake good feelings.

This is just so “right on”, it has nothing to do with the quality of the work but is determined by politically correct parameters and weather anyone saw it in France. It excludes where much of the best work is and will originate from, so is fast turning from a luvie fest in to an irrelevant luvi fest

Last year South Korean film 'Burning' didn't win although Japanese 'Shoplifters' won, Great news for Asian Cinema, and with this year 'Parasite', even better.

Takashi Miike's new movie was also praised highly at Cannes.

I'm not really feeling this celebration of grifters and others who take advantage of others.

Award-winning directors have a story to tell that they believe in

That's what makes great films - when their hearts and passion are in it

And btw, if you're fond of Korean cinema, the Korean Film Archive has made nearly 200 films available on the Korean Classic Film channel on Youtube. All free and subtitled.

Now if only there's a Japanese equivalent...
