I guess it only happens in Japan.

It is amazing to me how the media and the entertainment industry sets "standards" and "expectations" for its people and basically force or require "apologies" and "resignations" almost to the point of "seppuku" with their own "interpretation" of "rightful behavior" should be and the extent of "sexual harassment laws". In that same light, they also require and forces those that were not involved but "associated" to take "responsibility" and face almost the same level of "public scrutiny and punishment (embarrassment)".

It is certainly different from what one experiences in the USA.

looks as if you won't be back after all. Officially, he has resigned, but he was probably ousted by the other members. May the damage to their public image was much too big this time

The girl should now record and release the old 50s hit, 'And Then He Kissed Me'.

Yes, because a song about a girl consenting and a situation here an old man forced himself on a teenager has so much in common, right?

Well I hopes she's happy. She's lured him into kissing her, cried wolf, then sucked some money out him.

His career is in tatters and his reputation destroyed. He had no choice but to settle and resign.

I hope this teenage trickster and her family make the most out of their newfound fortune, however sneakily it was acquired.

And this my friends is what a man with women issues looks like. A TEENAGER vs a man in his middle 40s. Yes, we know the poor man is victim and just couldn't control himself. Women her age set out to destroy the career of men double their age! Well done teenager, well done!

Seriously guys, good guys, this is what "we're" up against. Speak up, speak out. Please.

As a former top radio DJ who promoted the top bands I say no one resigns from a successful group unless they are absolutely guilty in their own minds and ashamed and embarrassed into quitting.

46 and he can't recognise jailbait when he meets one.

I didn't know kissing such a crime ????

The girl was a minor.

The misogynistic victim blaming and incel element when it comes to stories about women here is pretty unpleasant.

But oh no - the poor 46 year old! His career!

His fake crying/quitting clip done today with makeup, hair, lighting, and full crocodile tears is really something else.

A little sad that the main thing is the carnival ride...not that this is a big problem here.

Joshima said he was holding a letter of resignation Yamaguchi handed to them.

The true spirit of rock, a letter of resignation.

The irreverent gaijin in me looks on appalled at the masquerade of faux outrage, fake moral platitudes and hashtag #me too virtue signaling at its finest, and the ever so predictable falling into line obedience and compliance to the dictates of ware ware Nipponjin groupthink. The better angel of my nature however, inured to years of shikata ga nai fatalism looks on with equanimity and complete confidence in Big Brother’s infallibility.

Of course he did a bad thing but if something happen, Japanese media always broadcast same news everyday, a lot of times. Not only this but also kake or something.

We want to know more about another important news or international issues on TV. We don't need those kinds of information any more.

Ur right it wasn’t today, but a couple days back.

Yamaguchi and TOKIO will be back. It is not like it was in the old days, when one blunder could end a career. Remember SMAP's Kusanagi Tsuyoshi was caught naked and drunk yelling in a park in Roppongi near his condo? He apologized and is now back on TV etc. I predict Yamaguchi will be back in 5 months and TOKIO will resume its career.

And, Tokio should now bring Becky in to replace yamaguchi on bass!

My god, can the media just stop drumming up the this silly drama. The guy admitted the charges, went in front of the media to apologise and now we have the whole group on parade apologising to save face. What a stupid circus show!

Yamaguchi tanked his career, let the situation be.

So what? Yawn

'"Even if we accept his resignation letter, I still cannot abandon Yamaguchi," said Kokubun.'

Not enough punishment. And he'll be back in the band within a year after fans, who suddenly don't care about sexual assault if it's someone you like who committed it, will make signs saying, "Ganbare! Yamenai!" and they'll be a ticker-tape parade and celebration when he comes back.
