Actor Riz Ahmed leads bid to change way Muslims seen in movies

As visual inputs are so important to our learning, a photo would help, too, methinks.

found that less than 10% of top-grossing films released from 2017-2019 from the U.S., the UK, Australia and New Zealand featured at least one speaking Muslim character

I haven't read the report so I don't know the details. But I'm wondering how we identify the religion of most speaking characters in films and TV dramas? Is it not generally irrelevant in most cases?

I generally avoid movies yes with religious characters or themes

Given that Muslims probably make up around 10% (or perhaps less) of the population of the US etc, then it seems eminently reasonable that only 10% of the movies would have an explicitly Muslim character. Especially since, as we all surely know, Islam is a religion, a pattern of belief. There is no way to tell whether or not a person is Muslim purely based on appearance.

Something interesting that was not mentioned in he article is that the same survey "Missing and whatever" showed that Muslim characters are more likely to be portrayed as VICTIMS of violence rather than as perpetrators. In other words, as sympathetic characters.
