28 years ago. There really should be a statute of limitations on this. Only thing this becomes is a "he says, she says" situation. No DNA, witness accounts are fuzzy at best (Jesus, 28 years ago), and no real proof.

1990?! She certainly waited long enough.

She said, he said at this point in time, unless a whole string of women come forward like in the Crosby case. Otherwise, it has the appearance of a spurned lover just trying to milk this cash cow.

”l want what America wants, for it to love us as much as we love it”

Trump will pardon him. relax.

aint no limitations on trauma or soul destroying memories. Bill Cosby would agree with you however. nice company you're in.

There really should be a statute of limitations on this.

Nope. There should be no statute of limitations on any crime. If there was Max Clifford, Stuart Hall, Rolf Harris and numerous other non-famous sexual predators would have got away with it.

Well, she sure did wait long enough.

Luddite, totally agree... Jimmy Saville was only the tip of the iceberg as far as historic sex offences go.

Cash cow indeed. No doubt other Women will suddenly crawl out from under their rocks, and claim all sorts of things against him.

As an Actor I have no particular like/dislike for the chap, but I am, beginning to dislike Women as a whole for these types of actions. You may as well have all the descendants from Black Slaves suing the US plantation descendants for a stake in the wealth that their forefathers had slaved towards without pay. Just how far back do you take things ?

The Laws these days are clear, and the Law enforcement efficient towards upholding those Laws, and behavior has changed inline. So why is it necessary to go back to such darker times and for what purpose ? It seems just Monetary gain and in the end, would harm those who are suffering abuse these days as it would soon become a matter of .... "oh another money grabber seeking attention", just as people are now tired of seeing news about Syria....

Mixed feelings. 28 years is a long time, but no - there should be no statute of limitations. At the very least, the media could hold back on reporting every old accusation until there is a charge. But then, as with Cosby, it takes a while for the snowball effect to happen - women who'd stopped telling the people around them, because no one believed them, suddenly being believed because of the sheer numbers corroborating their experience.

Speed:

No DNA, witness accounts are fuzzy at best (Jesus, 28 years ago), and no real proof.

Are you writing that based on your knowledge of the case or assuming. I haven't read or heard anything about this. If the woman tried to press charges at the time, there may be some witness statements, etc.. (I have the Shiori / Noriyuki Yamaguchi case in my mind now, since someone posted about it on the Abe/Harrassment thread yesterday).

All allegations should be looked into, but how many are a just rubbish allegations? IE lets see if he gives us some "shut up money" to make it go away even if the allegations are false, I wonder how many woman and men have tried it on, I find it distressing that a person can throw an allegation at some one, and the persons is thrown into the mass media arena, there life's are turned upside down, relationships can break down, life is never the same afterwards, does the wife really trust the guy 100% again? is there going to be a nagging doubt at the back of her mind? but out of all of this the accuse can walk away scott free with no or little come back.

Enough of this trial-by-media nonsense, there are too many shakedowns going on these days.

Too late now, but in this current day and age, it would be best if "stars" had people sign a letter of consent. As ridiculous as it sounds, lots of famous people require people attending their parties to sign NDAs. Other than that, not much can be done to prevent these situations. You have two people interacting, and whether it's been last night or 15 years ago, one person can always speak out that something nefarious occurred.

If this keeps up more men will do the Mike Pence thing. 28 years ago?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Sylvester Stallone?

Are we surprised?

Nah!

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

This "Me too" thing is definitely out of control and common sense. She waited for almost thirty years to suddenly recall "Oh, yes, I did not give him two copies of written, lawyer-approved permission to have sex with me then, let's get some money from him now". What kind of proof she can produce, or we must believe just her words?

Sly, hold fast!

Here we go again? I’m waiting for allegations to hit Alec Baldwin, should be any day now....

If this keeps up.... more men will be buying sex dolls.... maybe Japan has it right already.

Afraid? :)

The chance that allegations 'will hit' Alec Baldwin is at the end probably smaller then those of the Leader he impersonates :)

Sly, hold fast!

If he did it once expect others to come out with their stories as well.

running to catch up to the band wagon must have been exhausting.

I most certainly agree. And glad these guys were caught. (especially that smug Clifford)

But...there has to be collaborating evidence. Not just he says, she says.

I don’t think arguing the pros and cons in the statue of limitations is really the issue here.

Stallone is innocent till proven guilty. Her taking 28 years doesn’t prove her wrong or right as it doesn’t make him guilty or innocent.

It does weaken her claim though.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

There should be a guilty verdict before names are released. Otherwise its guilty until proven innocent in court of public opinion. Not to mention if he's working on a show, his coworkers can get sacked if they cancel the movie/show a la Roseanne.

The only surprising thing about this is how some people are still confused as to why victims would wait so long to come forward.

A cursory glance at the comments on any article like this should provide the answer.

I am, beginning to dislike Women as a whole for these types of actions.

Simple as that. Damned if they don't, damned if they do.

1990

27 years and nothing, but now?

I presume any physical evidence is gone and how are people suppose to remember what happened with accuracy 28 years ago? You ask 5 different people what happened last week you get 5 different answers and that's presuming they are lot younger than 71 years of age.

Good luck getting to the truth.

It depends on the situation. Look at the case of Gary Glitter.
