Actress Ai Takabe, 20, on Tuesday became an honorary police chief for the day at Ikebukuro police station in Tokyo to raise public awareness for safe driving.

Well, Maybe she can catch Hawker's killer, she can't do any worse than the regular police.

Is that a Benny Hill salute?

hahaha, they should play the benny hill music and speed up the film whenever the J-police are on TV, would be somewhat fitting.

"I wish everyone would drive safely because there are many elderly people on the roads who don't look where they are going and don't drive safely".

I will be careful when I drive after I get my license, but until then I will continue to be a ditz and be equally as dangerous as the oldies.

I hear they're trying this "...for a day" idea with the PM position.

techall...Catching Hawker's killer may be asking too much. But maybe she can catch that pesky monkey that keeps eluding the local keystone cops.

I wish everyone would drive safely because there are many elderly people on the roads.

And other drivers duh... I guess when there aren't any elderly people it's alright to drive crazily, yeah, that's it...

That is an excellent salute!

"Takabe, who is currently studying for her license at a driving school"

Why the heck does everyone study for their license at these insanely expensive driving schools here? Heck, in my hometown in the States, nobody went to a driving school. We all got our permits and practiced driving with our fathers or mothers or older siblings and then took our test for our licenses.

Because it is more like a memory test and the only people who know the sequence are the driving school instructors.

It's a money making scam. All 18 year olds do it, pouring billions of yen in to the economy.

do we have to drive carefully because octogenarian taro and his yoda-double wife are driving recklessly?

"Yoda-double wife", I like that!
