"We must restore a clean and upright literary and artistic environment to the public."

Because nothing screams artistic quite like complete government control.

CCP is afraid of competition. CCP is worried that some famous actresses or actors might become more popular than CCP. Fear is a dangerous thing, soon they will be afraid of their own shadow and try to delete it.

China just wants to completely suppress their people and destroy anything that gets attention that is not a nationalistic cause.

Can’t wait to see people hit their breaking point and then the uprising against their dictatorship will be the collapse of the CCP.

Unril then, boycott China.

For a moment, when I read the headlines, I thought it was Fan Bingbing again.

In China even hot actresses have to pay taxes? What a novel idea.

But who with the CCP-govt get to create their propaganda rap music? Cardi-C isn't cutting it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu1omarnbrI

Don't miss her Rap about Cotton farming! It is funny. A little cultural appropriation is ok, if you are the CCP.

In the US, when somebody becomes hugely successful the rulers co-opt them (with threats if needed) so they can work together to milk the working class even more.

I agree, but the direction of the co-opting is really the reverse. America’s political system is basically a pay for play system now where wealthy interests can easily buy policy favors that benefit them while screwing the working class over. Political leaders are the ones who have been co-opted.

She is very hot!

God have mercy, you should go to China. There are 1 million just like her even in provincial cities not on most maps.

A long, dark fascist shadow is spreading inexorably across the Chinese nation.

Only the party can be revered. Resistance is futile.

Proper Chinese must only have a picture of Chairman XI on their bedroom wall. He should be handsome enough for all patriotic people.

When somebody becomes hugely successful in China or Russia, the rulers take them down. In the US, when somebody becomes hugely successful the rulers co-opt them (with threats if needed) so they can work together to milk the working class even more.

Surely, there's a balance somewhere between these two extremes.

Welcome to "Cultural Revolution" Episode II "No Red Guards Necessary"

Family patriarch, Papa Mao, Jr. (played by noted state actor Xi Jinping) sees his family having fun and decides that they should have less fun, a lot less fun, and takes away their allowances and grounds them until they understand the sin of competing with him for attention. He then confronts Confucius accusing him of not diligently bending twigs. [Rerun]

Rather than further censorship, China should focus on placing policies to ensure entertainment companies have fair and ethical contracts, and teach its general population about morality and consent (to avoid situations like Kris Wu luring young girls into his home for sexual assault).

But no.... slap more censorship like a band-aid solution rather than target the root cause.

There's nothing wrong with what he said. When you are faced with the gigantic, McDonald's eating land whales that flubber around the streets of the west sweating as they drain the last drop from their triple sugar Starbucks lattes it must be surprising to see a human female in normal healthy shape. Us living in asia are used to it as the great feminism virus is yet to fully desolate our lady friends thank God.

@Kuruki

KrIs Wu must've learned morality from American rapper R. Kelley the techniques of luring underage girls to his home for sex

During the Cultural Revolution, China executed/imprisoned it's scholars and elites. Are they starting the Cultural Revolution Pt. II?

yin-yang contracts in China have been around for many years to work around the taxes.

Chinese actress Bing Bing was hit with a fine of $129 million in 2018.

She has not been heard from since then.

China at that time did revise the amount of payments to actors but yin-yang contracts seem to be still going on.

In China and Russia when "hugely successful people" get arrested for not paying tax, it amounts to the state "taking them down".

You're very naive if you think this has anything to do with taxes.

Money isn't all that the Chinese communists are going after.

Of course. In China and Russia when "hugely successful people" get arrested for not paying tax, it amounts to the state "taking them down". This is not a strange idea for anyone in Western Europe or North America. In those more civilized countries the idea of "hugely successful people" paying tax is quaint.

Jinping appears to be modelling himself on a basis of "what if Mao was not just misguided, but actively evil?", so probably yeah.

Agreed

I think it's not a good idea for star business in China now. Expect more korean war or japanese war movies.
