Actress Masami Nagasawa wins beauty award

Actress Masami Nagasawa, 25, won an award for "unrivaled physical beauty" at the VoCE "2012 The Best Beauty of the Year" awards ceremony this week. The annual awards ceremony is organized by women's magazine VoCE.

Upon receiving her award, Nagasawa told attendees the secret to her success was bathing in "nihonshu," or Japanese rice wine. "That tip was imparted to me by a girl who started in this business before me and I put it into practice," she said, according to Nikkan Sports. "When I was younger, there were times when I couldn't always maintain a good skin care routine, so now I'm doing my best to look after my skin."

Who decides the on the winner in these contests?

The agency that pays the most money to have their "star" up there.

She is a beautiful Japanese, Last Friends (Fuji TV, 2008) and Boku no Imoto (TBS, 2009).

25 year old with that kind of skin..? I wonder if the rice wine business will be a boom...

Look at photo and then read "unrivaled physical beauty". Look at the photo and then read "unrivaled physical beauty". Do that a few times and you'll be laughing just like she is in the photo.

She is average at best. And don't give me that "beauty is only skin deep" stuff. It says PHYSICAL beauty.

Who votes on these crappy awards?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The judges must have drunk the nihonshu she bathed in.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

it's funny how much these bogus "awards" rile us (the foreign community) up. i mean seriously, best beauty, best pantsist, best eyeglassist?!?! who gives a flying kaufman, but we eat it up anyways!

They can use this example to win a place in the "Most Ridiculous Awards" contest. Even more ridiculous is the advice to wash your body in sake?! Are you kidding me?

Nagasawa told attendees the secret to her success was bathing in “nihonshu,” or Japanese rice wine.

My bladder must be utterly gorgeous....

Another award needing a winner. Manami is not my idea of most beautiful J actress.

Bet she's wearing a fair bit of makeup too. As they say, "Beauty in the eye of the beholder". In the judges' eyes she's beautiful, but a lot of won't agree. She's attractive no doubt, but there are a lot of even more attractive women around too.

I just checked her out on YouTube, she looks like a nice girl but I've seen more meat on a butchers pencil!!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The funny thing is that she believe she's beautiful by giving the sake advice, my wife is more beautiful than her, and my wife is 29.

The_True - have no idea if you are correct or not but thumbs up anyway for a lovely comment on your wife!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I'm guessing it was an honorable mention award?

There honestly must be a list of names at their talent agency that they tick off as they go through them and create awards for them to win simply to generate publicity. I nearly spat out my coffee when I read the name of the award and saw the photo..........i have more beauty sitting in the classes i teach. So who is next on the list and what made up award are they gonna win????????

The rice wine probably kills bacteria (staff), fungus, and such. But that would be expensive, and I would get drunk and not make it out of the bath.

You could probably do the same thing with a small amount of bleach added to the bath water. Bleach is corrosive and will blind you if not diluted enough, but diluted correctly (think of chlorine in a swimming pool), it is safe.

Nice happy smile, but a better photo should have been posted.

at least she doesn't have vampire teeth though!

There are many Japanese actresses prettier... there are women walking around who are better looking than a lot of the top models. Five minutes at a pedestrian crossing on a busy street in Tokyo will net you at least a dozen women who would win any beauty competition.

Gorgeous woman.

"bathing in nihonshu"

I've been told this means a bottle or two of sake poured into a bath of city water, not pure sake...

It's just her turn to be the prettiest this year. This award goes around to the flavor of the day.

@therougou

at least she doesn't have vampire teeth though!

I was thinking exactly the same thing ! At least she's not "Lady Dracula".

''secret to her success was bathing in “nihonshu,” right, its not because you are 25 only?? Lets se when she is 30 and nobody wants to use her anymore.

Proudly sponsored to you by; ''Nihonshu Japan'!

Just watched fragments of her images from YouTube. There are extremes: the hilarious kind you see above; the pensive, contemplative, with-a-trace-of-mysterious-shadow kind of her own self. You are excused to have commented lightly on her as you have seen only the above image; but if you have seen the profundity in her eyes as I have, if you have seen the enchanting beauty around her eyebrows when see goes "deep", then you will feel sorry.

looks nice but kind of ordinary. I´d like to see some photos of those sake baths though.

Maybe she is beautiful inside.. but as far as physical beauty its Maya Murofushi

I think Masami Nagasawa is really pretty, but that's a horrible picture of her.

meh

Even Aya Sugimoto today can rival her physical beauty.

I love Masami Nagasawa!!!
