Actress Riho Makise, 36, has married fashion designer Nigo, 37, after a four-year relationship, her agent said Tuesday. In an official comment, Makise said, “I would like us to have a peaceful life full of mutual respect.”

Nigo, founder of clothing company A Bathing Ape (or BAPE), said in a statement: “Although she is a gorgeous actress, what impressed me the most was her homely personality.”

The two said they don't have any plans for a lavish wedding ceremony and party.

Despite others here describing this as just stupid news, this guy is seriously rich and has a huge influence on fashion and music style in Japan today. He is Tokyo University educated and has business links with the likes of Jayzee and Pharell Williams. Nigo's fashion sales to Hong Kong and China alone must be a ridiculous amount of money. He began by selling vintage American clothing in Tokyo, then just limited edition t-shirts and jeans. He now owns a huge HQ store in Omotesando, has stores around the world, a record label and a large cafe in Harajuku. He owns some of the most limited and rare Bentley cars in the world. This girl has done well for herself indeed.

A "homely personality"? Is that a typo? What did he mean?

Who? And who?

Nigo is too close to the N word for beeing a concidence.

The guy is behind a wall of Fendi logo. Miscommunication?

Japanese people don't use the 'n' word. His family name is Nagao, so it's a nickname. Also, in Japanese it means 'the second one' or 'number two'. It's in reference to Hiroshi Fujiwara who is considered the number one style guru in Japan and as rich as Nigo.

Who? And who?

Everytime there's an article about some Japanese entertainer someone invariably posts "who is he/she". If you don't know who someone is, obviously you're not very familar with whatever is going on in Japan which fine but, but one can always google and wiki.

Such is all fashion created in Japan. Japanese department store fashion ranges from "all out geek" to "high end bizarre". There is very little fashion created in Japan, and for good reason.

Different strokes, for different kinds of people...In this time of financial crisis, it's good that they're socially sensitive, as having a lavish party worse having it broadcast in TV, is pure crassness.
