Actress Tomoka Kurotani, 32, has been appointed “Grapefruit Ambassador” by the Florida Department of Citrus for the third year running, it was announced Tuesday.
“I’m really honored. I hope to convey the wonders of grapefruit in a fresh spirit yet again,” Kurotani said at a press conference.

Didn't she just get an award for having the best teeth from Philips? Maybe the grapefruit give her clean teeth.

Now the state of Florida is getting into this foolishness. Is she going to have a summet with the Breakfast Ambassador? Grapefriut is a breakfast food afterall, along with beer.

"Grapefruit Ambassador". Much better than naming someone "Grapefuitiest".
Altria
Nothing like a nice pair of grapefruits in the morning.
BlackFlag
I doubt she is even slightly aware how absolutely ludicrous that sounds
PaizuriSan
I wonder how she won that award...
wanderlust
Mark - it would be The Best Grapefruitist!
But has anyone ever seen or heard of her doing anything to promote grapefruits?
Richard_the_First
The management companies will do anything for money and farm out the talents to any 'worthy cause'. Maybe the toilet bowl industry should have an award for best bogest!
thepro
I'd like her to promote grapefruit a little more with a photoshoot or something
OssanAmerica
Does she get a chance to visit Florida?

First, it's Breakfast Ambassador, then it's Grapefruit Ambassador...what's next then...?..:)

Surely she must be the, "Best Grapefuitest" the world has ever seen, don't you all agree?
soldave
She's won it for the 3rd year in a row. One wonders what the criteria could be for being a grapefruit ambassador
whitepocky
Wanted: desperate, talentless fool who will do anything for work.
magpie
When can we have a peaches ambassador?
Nessie
Giving these people diplomatic immunity is just asking for trouble.
norinrad21
I'm dead serious guys, the next one would be Best Gaijinist
seesaw
yay!
Proffessor
I guess the world has run out of things to do!
Nessie
Yeah, shouldn't grapefruits come with a peel?
Deepinside
i will like to visit japan,do i have to talk to her to get a VISA ? or a grapefruit juice as welcome drink? im confuse now..
larguero
Is there a consul too? As ambassador, she should defend grapefruits' rights and ask Japanese to stop eating them.
Peaceful_Man
Another media organisation sucked in by a publicity stunt, Why on earth do these things get coverage?
Sarge
Instead of paying 100-150 yen for one grapefruit, I buy a liter of grapefruit juice, which contains the juice of at least 10 grapefruits, for about 150 yen. You're all welcome.

"Instead of paying 100-150 yen for one grapefruit, I buy a liter of grapefruit juice, which contains the juice of at least 10 grapefruits, for about 150 yen".
Provided that it has been labelled correctly Sarge ... bet ya didn't think of that!
Sarge, "Best Grapefruit drinkerist" of 2008!!
butterfly1
All this ambassador / --ist stuff is getting very very painful!
Is it only me, or are there many more of these this year than last?
raymech1
Man, I love this country..
magpie
Sarge...just make sure it doesn't say 10% actual grapefruit juice content, otherwise you're back to paying 150 yen for effectively 1 grapefruit...
Freddy5
Who is the "Melons Ambassador"? JT - pictures please.
Nessie
That would be Miss Yubari, I kid you not. I met her once. They really have a Melon Queen.
Freddy5
Thanks Nessie. Were they worthy of the title?
wargalley20011
I've never been to keen on grapefruit, I guess I can put her in my Axis Terrible Fruit group.
Pump24
Soon enough they'll create the title of "Ambassador Ambassador", to be the Ambassador of all the countless Ambassadors in Japan..or something like that...
mrhog123
Where is the Preparation H ambassador?
