It’s amazing that his voice has lasted this long! Otsukaresama!

Tyler too much coke stripped his throat.

"Citing serious damage to his voice..."

Apparently he started singing in tune.

Aerosmith is an iconic band, something like the poor man's Rolling Stones. They produced quite a few hits and had a presence all their own. Mick Jagger is no opera star. Bob Dylan is so bad I can sing like him. John Prine didn't exactly sail smoothly like a dove with his voice, either. All of them are great. Tyler's voice fit the band. Too bad to see them go.

Well he is a screamer. Met a mother and daughter from Australia here cuz they don’t tour down under.

it's understandable. he's what, 104-years old?

Great career.

Can’t knock Walk the Way. Catchy as they come.

The coke wouldn’t really do that.

Very different and style of approach, I wouldn’t go that far in comparing the two, not that many similarities at all.

They produced quite a few hits and had a presence all their own. Mick Jagger is no opera star.

But a great showman nonetheless

Bob Dylan is so bad I can sing like him.

Very true, but is definitely a folks legend.

John Prine didn't exactly sail smoothly like a dove with his voice, either. All of them are great. Tyler's voice fit the band. Too bad to see them go.

Yeah, without him there is no Aerosmith, just like there is no Queen without Mercury.

You can only sing Back in the Saddle and Draw the Line so many times before they kill your vocal cords. Loved them as hard rock band before they went the pop music route. Everything post Pump is quite soft. But after years of limited popularity, very happy for them to get more mainstream commercial success. Over 50yrs of concerts and tours. They certainly paid their dues. Joe Perry and Brad Whitford have their own bands so I'm sure they'll keep busy without Tyler.

Interesting to listen to how Tyler sings on ‘Dream On’ compared to the songs you mentioned.

He certainly gave his voice a hell of a lot of strain.

Very good vocalist.

The coke wouldn’t really do that.

Yes, it does. Nose and throat. Strips the mucous membrane.

Because it is dripping into your throat, it also drips onto the vocal cords. cocaine-effect-voice.

Tyler had the wealth to abuse cocaine.

Aerosmith and the Stones are two different bands and styles.

I think he damaged his voice about 40 years ago.

I never like that band, over time they became pathetically commercial..

Unusual.

You are usually filled with mature respect for people who’ve achieved success despite not liking them.

Surprising.

I saw Aerosmith twice on their permanent vacation tour. They were great in concert because they were great musicians.

I was seriously thinking of flying somewhere to see them on this last tour.

It’s too bad they have to go out on other than their own terms but they had a great career.

Tyler too much coke stripped his throat.

“Cocaine may affect the voice in varied ways, according to how it is used.” From the article, so it’s not conclusive that it was the cause.

Yes, it does. Nose and throat. Strips the mucous membrane.

More of the nose than throat

Because it is dripping into your throat, it also drips onto the vocal cords. cocaine-effect-voice.

Again, it’s not conclusive, “may or probably or could be” are probable surmises nothing absolute.

Tyler had the wealth to abuse cocaine.

Charlie Sheen did double of what Steven did and he’s fine.

I think he damaged his voice about 40 years ago.

Absolutely when you exceed your octave range that is a very high possibility. Trust me.

Thank God, now he’ll be on “Amerikka’s Got Talent” forever…and “The Talk/Squawk.

I bet they are really saddened at reading that. NOT!

Well he is a screamer. Met a mother and daughter from Australia here cuz they don’t tour down under.

Are they screamers too?

what a humorless bunch of people…

Charlie Sheen did double of what Steven did and he’s fine.

No, he didn’t. That’s not physically possible (except for Keith Richard’s).

And Charlie isn’t a professional singer for 50 years, so the cumulative effects of substance abuse on vocal cords is not analogous in any way.

Always loved Asrosmith...Tyler's voice is an integral part of their sound...but damn did he drive his voice hard...

Saw them only once...but at least once...

One senses another fictional anecdote from an imaginary career coming….
