Because the left in America are obsessed with diversity while the rest of the world could not care less.

I could care less about a movie about yet more rich people. And how many people in the movie actually had a Singaporean accent? That's one problem la!

Oh, and watch Harold and Kumar for a better experience. Funnier AND you get two bargains for the price of one - a guy of South Asian descent and one of East Asian descent. And no big deal was made of their ethnic backgrounds. AND one of them gets the white girl at the end!
Not all Asians are rich.

I'm still amazed the boy Henry can apparently act. After seeing him on the Travel Show, that's quite a step.
I was talking to the rest of the world the other day, great wonderful people, and they said they'll get back to you on that. Huge amount of people, huge.

People living in Asia see lots of Asians on TV and film all the time. People living in Western countries don't always see a large cast of Asian actors, so the response is bound to be different. For one group, it is new and cool. For the other, it is the same as usual.
When President Obama was elected the first president of African descent in Western country, it was considered a great day in American history, but people living in Africa see African presidents all the time. It's all about what you are use to.
Asian movie goers in Asia would be more excited about a major Asian actor starring in a major Western movie like the Avengers.

If I want to watch crazy rich Asians, I only need to search for clips from YouTube showing some rich Chinese throwing a tantrum. It pretty much shows you money can't buy class. Respect is earned not given.

Why?
Diversity is something many of us have grown up with, have lived with all our lives, have in our families.
If you don't like seeing the real world depicted on the big screen, I assure you, nobody will force you to do so.

Set in Singapore? Ummm... SE Asia, right? Hollywood congratulates itself for no-brainer casting.

Has anyone actually seen this film yet?
