Ai Kago, 21, has been named KDDI's commercial spokesperson for a new mobile phone service that will be developed in the United States.
Kago had hoped to study abroad in the States, and got to attend an event at KDDI's showroom in mid-November. "I was surprised when some people there called me by my nickname, Aibon," she laughed. Kago has yet to decide any concrete plans for studying abroad, but said she would like to go to New York and study jazz.

Not even Vodafone dared to step into the US market. GL KDDI

I'm stoked. Nuff said.

American's will see "best effort" and blast their technical service department. When absolutely none of the upper management can speak comprehend-able English, they expect to make it in America. Dream on. Can't even make it in Japan.

Did they do their marketing research? "Campaign girl" will not fly in the USA.
bokudayo
Just because she is a campaign girl doesn't mean they have to announce it in the commercials. Likely the news will report her as the "spokesperson" if they report on her at all.
Icantbelieveit
who the heck is Ai Kago, never heard of her?
TokyoGas
I hope they did some market research and this person came out as the best candidate. Or that the spokesperson didn't matter as the quality of service will grab the customers.

KDDI is going to try the US market? Can't believe that will turn out well...
Altria
She's already been a great campaign girl for Altria cigarettes.

KDDI is the worst carrier in Japan, and now it will be the worst carrier in the U.S.. Prepare to watch the epic fail

We do not use campaign girls in the US. Let alone someone that cannot speak English. Is she pointing at her nose in that picture, or downing a vitamin drink?
oberst
she is actually blowing her horn about KDDI !!

" she would like to go to New York and study jazz. ".............. hole she doesn't howl like Yoko ONo

@ Yelnats I do believe Aibon is singing there.
Ahhh, I really hope to see her around here, even if this phone company doesn't make it big in America... but it'd be so wonderful to see her around! She's supposed to return to the USA in a year and sing Jazz in clubs of New York.. I'm definitely seeing her. :) Omedetou Kago-chan!

I am proud that she is 21, and not trying to look 12, like most of her former bandmates do. She grew up:)

@airrunwesker
Yes, she's definitely matured.. one of the most mature ones out of the graduates. Too bad everyone freaks out. xD I'm soo glad that Kago is actually doing stuff now that she's out of H!P, this..hopefully..will help her career.

2Yelnats - learn to not say for everyone. after done it, try to learn some foreign langauge. though for you, knowing only stupid plain english, it would be too strong task.
i hope, Kagochan woun't be "singing jazz in clubs of New-York". it will be too downgrade for her.
