Dancer and comedian Kintaro, 31, who is best known for her impersonations of many AKB48 singers, announced on her blog on Friday that she is officially dating another impersonator, Kohei Kawaguchi, 32.

Kintaro, whose real name is Shiho Tanaka, said they started dating after she expressed her feeling toward Kawaguchi during a program appearance on March 2.

"Being shy is never my thing when it comes to relationship," Kintaro said, expressing her strong "can do" attitude toward the relationship.

Time for JT to raise the bar now. This is scraping the bottom of the barrel stuff. Plenty of talented entertainers in Japan, foreign and domestic who deserve coverage on a site this like. These days interviews can be easily done by Skype or email. Many hardworking entertainers do this anytime for free. Doesn't take much legwork and is at no cost.

Moderator: How little you know. Kintaro is immensely popular and this story was covered by all entertainment media yesterday. In future, please lift the level of your comments which generally add nothing to the discussion.

Short legs, head too big for her body, an irritating voice and personality, hey even the hunchback of Notre Dame fell in love, not my typ much longere, but what the hell, it's her life.

In "real" life she is supposedly a dance instructor too! She's a one-hit-wonder and won't last much longer, here's to hoping AKB dies (in popularity) along with her.

Two impersonators marrying? I hope their marriage doesn't suffer from an existential crisis.

She's a fine example of just how pathetic "entertainment" is here. She drives me nuts - as does AKB. Glad she's found someone. Perhaps she'll get pregnant and quit her job??

Then, in two week: "Haaai, N E X T aidoru/tarento please!"

tmarie, I agree. "entertainment" here is a pretty sad affair. There are some funny people around but this one-hit-wonder can't be counted among those.

I hear you but it is the same as AKB48 make me cringe and make me want to take a cold bath after I see them, at least this chick is 32 and not border line adult.

I really don't know what's sadder -- a 'talent' impersonating people with no talent, or the fact that it's a success.

I actually watched that dating show, and you can tell she have deep feelings for that guy. They also did a back ground story on her, and they played old video footage of her Ballroom dancing. She is very good looking girl and dancer outside her AKB48 routine. I wish her all the luck with relationship.

I saw that same special. She looked like she knew what she was doing on the dance floor. I understand what smithinjapan says about impersonating someone with no talent, but it is a pretty spot-on impersonation/parody.

I'm not saying she has not talent (I am saying AKB doesn't), but why not take that "can do" attitude and DO it yourself? Kudos to her and best wishes with the dating thing, but come on.... getting famous off of imitating hacks?

She's hilarious! She mocks the idiots and nails it. I'd buy her a top-tier beer.

Next up: Child impersonator.

I definitely need to listen one of this AKB48 songs before I die. This will be my Sunday duty!

"expressing her strong “can do” attitude toward the relationship." I bet Kawaguchi is happy about that. Plus, he gets to "date" several AKB members.

lol shes fake girl

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Call me crazy but I think she is hot

That is because that is the most flattering picture of her, if you ever watched her on TV she looks a lot worse.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

An air head impersonating an air head-life is really stranger than fiction.....

What do you call the child(ren) of two showbiz impersonators? Really. There's gotta be a zinger in there somewhere.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

do you think they impersonate other people while they're...........oh never mind

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I got tired of her shtick half-way through the first time I saw it...and here she has succeeded making a career out of it and no doubt will soon be a household name. This is why there always that almost invisible but persistent fleeting moment of shame whenever you travel home and tell someone you work in Japan: that acknowledgement since people like her can be on TV every day and get applause, those who have "succeeded" here in Japan will have done just that - "success" in quotation marks.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

All 48 of them? What is she, a ninja?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

that is funny. Two impersonators "dating" ..it becomes impossible to decide what is real..but it is funny.
