Tomomi Itano from the J-pop group AKB48 held a solo concert in Osaka on Sunday night for 1,700 fans chosen by lottery from among 50,000 applicants. Itano, 20, performed her cover song from her 2nd CD as well as eight other songs. At the end of the concert, she said: "Thank you so much for coming to my concert. Let's share fond memories of this summer together."
Itano -- who lived for five years in Kitasenri, Osaka -- said: "I’m so happy to perform here for you all tonight."

FINALLY today's AKB news. I was getting worried!

I'm so glad JT decided to report these inspiring words. They will live in my heart always. It is wonderful to know that there are young artists in this world who are brave enough to get up on stage and perform utterly predictable, bland, and vacuous music. And a big thank you to Yasushi Akimoto for marketing it all so brilliantly!
Looking forward to the next AKB story soon!

"sings" or "lip synchs"?

It's a real shame there's no accompanying photo with this article.

Serrano; For myself, it is a blessing that there is no photo for the droolers.

I support AKB48 and Tomomi Itano. She is appearing in more commercials, working at her solo career. All the girls will graduate eventually, and good for her and her agency for taking a pro active role in securing her future.

Yes, there are no other musicians on the planet that come even remotely close to the sheer raw talent that these women have, I think every musician on the planet should emulate them, because THEY ARE the best! Can't wait to see them get that grammy and to be inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.
