Actress Akiko Yada, 30, divorced her husband, Oshio Manabu, 31, after his arrest for possession of narcotics on Aug 3, according to media reports. Documents declaring the divorce, marked with Yada's signature, arrived at media agencies via fax on Friday, it was reported Saturday.
In the statement, Yada says: "We separated because of his involvement with other women and because I couldn't agree with his lifestyle. We had no plans to divorce, but after this incident I made the decision based on how it might affect my son and other people close to me."
The couple were married in November 2006 despite voices of opposition from those around them. They gave birth to a boy in November 2007.

Stand by her man? What for? The guy repeatedly cheated on her...it wasn't just once. If he made a mistake once and she helped him through it, okay that's understandable but if he continuously does it over and over again, he's not going to change. He also abuses drugs. Plus, he ran away leaving a dead naked woman on her bed. How about calling the police and telling them his mistress just died rather than running away like a coward? Seriously, this guy doesn't even value women as human beings. I can't see why people are making excuses for Oshio and making Akiko out to be the bad person in this situation. Hello, her husband is the unfaithful one, the one who takes drugs, and abandoned a dead woman! All I can say is: "good girl + bad boy = disaster". Yes, she knew he was trouble before she married him and I don't know why some women have such low self esteem, that they will still marry a guy that they know will probably mistreat them later in life. Well, lesson learned. She needs to pick up the pieces and move on. She should find herself a good family man and stay away from drug-taking bad boy rock stars.

i guess she doesn't believe in standing by her man :O

How do you know that he "is not so tough now he is behind bars"? He could be running the cells for all you know.
drink_more_milk
It was really bad judgment to have married him in the first place. It's not like she didn't know about his lifestyle or troublesome character. He's not so tough now, now that he's behind bars, is he?

a man needs support in a difficult situation like this. They could have worked it out, I am sure he learnt a big lesson from this tragedy. She should try to help him, yes, he is the lowest creature on earth but everybody deserves another chance.

in sickness and in health, until drugs do we part.
oberst
she should fool around on the side too and see how he likes it

I don't blame her for divorcing him. This incident was a little bit naughty really. Porking girl who is high, girl dies, running away. Not exactly good behaviour.
Wakarimasen
don't think till death do us part is a concept that relates to marriage in Japan -more a Christian thing. Here it is more like "until no longer convenient"

Was 3rd August National Drug Arrest Day or something ??

typical jsnot thinking she is all that and a bag of chips. had she been something special, he would not have been out with a crack whore.
thinking of the kid? wouldnt buy that if you threw in the ginzu steak knive set. the most used words by jbirds are shikaishi and choudai.
enjoy your life Akiko, he is better off without you
So you're saying she should stay with a low-life loser who not only cheated on her but left a woman to die?
Some men are jerks, they can have a good woman at home and still cheat.
She's better off without him. It's sad that this woman not only has to deal with her ex-husband's mess and a small child, but now she being treated like the bad guy simply for divorcing him, which I'm sure a lot of women would do in this case.
He's the criminal, not her.

in Jpn every week is weird, thats part of the fun living here!
norinrad21
this has been a weird week.
Potsu
Why didn't she divorce him before the arrest ?
hakujinsensei
why do famous people marry commoners? because they are commoners with fancy bags, nothing more.

Just another famous loser couple, along with Sakai in Japan! Oh well, the bigger they are, the harder they fall!
gogogo
Thats terrible, why do these agencies get this kind of personal information?
ronaldk
Well, at least she could wait a few months and make it seem like she thought about it. What a den of losers.
ritalynn
For the record, she was already split from her husband because of the affairs.
And why should she stand by him? He clearly didn't care enough about his marriage to stay faithful, and she has more important things to consider, like her child.
JackDorff
Exactly - Mrs Oshio (Ms Yada?) is widely known for being a right pain in the clacker. It`s a shame about the split - these two deserved each other.
GW
ha ha ha so she basically was ok with her hubby fooling around on the side as long as it didnt get in the news, I am sorry but Akiko yr a loser like yr loser hubby, hopefully you can salvage something so yr no longer a loser, good luck with that!
TokyoShizz
Through good times and bad, till death do you part...
Ninjazilla
Better late than never.
Triumvere
We all make mistakes; this one, it would seem, has been rectified to the best of her ability.
bamboohat
Why didn't that stop you from marrying him in the first place?
ritalynn
She did the right thing. Better to cut him off now than to sink down with him.
And for those who say 'stand by your man' you have to show that you ARE a man!
bigwave
"They gave birth to a boy in November 2007." They could make millions off a documentary about that!
helloklitty
Why don't these famous people marry commoners? Just look at that movie, Nodding Hill to see how well it can work.
Klein2
Stand by your man? The guy, the father of a child, sounds like a three dimensional loser.
Drugs
Infidelity
Divorced
Oh yeah, he gets the last one tagged on as his fault. Akiko saves her career, the kid's lifeline to a decent life, and herself as a responsible role model for the child. An excellent decision courageously executed.
biglittleman
She is cleaning house before the crap spills over on to her. We are not the only ones who have been keeping up with the news this week. Apparently she has a learned a valuable lesson. Don't let your spouse's crap mix with your crap. She doesn't want to be another Noripi (Sakai).
Jbizzle
Way to "stand by your man" girl!!! lol
herefornow
Wow, bad weekend for 30-something, female J-celebs. One's in jail on drug charges along with her druggie husband, and another got a quickie divorce after admitting her husband is a cheating druggie as well.
buddha4brains
Has Manabu learned anything from all this sh:t he has heaped upon himself and those around him? Or does he still expect that others learn from his mistakes and cowardice.
