RIP Butch Trucks. The Allman Brothers Band was one of the first to write great songs and also play extended jams. Butch and the rhythm section pushed the music behind the band's various great guitarists, especially Duane, who played with them over the years making ABB one of the best rock and roll bands ever. Butch's nephew Derek Trucks, a former member of ABB, is one of the world's best rock guitarists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYevVzLGqbY

One more: Jessica. Butch pushing his nephew Derek and Warren Haynes on leads with the rest of the band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W25lPno3FE

I didn't see any mention on here of the passing of Can's drummer, Jaki Liebezeit :( Does JTs knowledge of music only reach as far as the U.S.?

@Ptownsend, Duane Allman was a legend on guitar but he died in a motorcycle wreck before the band hit their 1970s commercial and creative peak. Gitta credit Dickie Betts on those definitive jams like Jessica and Rambling Man. Too bad he got booted from the band even if Warren and Derek were great replacements.

Always preferred the Allman's to Lynyrd Skynard. A more authentic sound, serious chops, and great innovators. Music that begs to be played as soon as it is "roll the windows down" weather.
