That was the best performance of her career so far.

Its borderline perverse this is categorized as entertianment news around the world.

It should be a serious case about serious issues of domestic violence.

Sad all round that the two of them and the media have turned it into some freak show.

Maybe im getting old before my time.

Daytime soap opera stuff. I wonder who wrote it for her. A good director would have called cut right away and had a word with her. She's clearly not feeling the character.

Liar.

I’m just having fun reading the comments on this and other stories by men, who, on every post about sexual assault, scream and cry that we can’t possibly make personal judgments about guilt until after the trial.

Don’t think for one minute the obvious double standard goes unnoticed.

Thats a fake victimized expression .

I think they both probably were in the wrong, and it sounds like a very toxic relationship. Like fire meeting dynamite. Add to that alcohol and drugs, and you have a real mess of a relationship. I think it will ultimately be difficult to say who is more of a victim or an instigator, they both seem equally culpable of despicable behavior.

I think the only winner is probably Depp's first ex-wife, the French model that he left her for Amber. She's probably eating popcorn like, yup you shouldn't have left a good thing for some new young lady lol.

Let that be a lesson to the rest of us- the grass may look greener with another person, but it could also be just as bad or worse than the stable person you're with. Of course, not talking about loveless or toxic relationships- I mean that Depp and his first wife were happy for many many years together, and if you have a good thing going....why rock the boat?

I think the real issue is trial by media as opposed to trial by jury!

your comments seem to point to the fact that Depp is obviously guilty… so your line that there are double standards at play seems a bit “misguided” .

Lets see how it plays out! I think a trial involving actors which is being flippantly broadcast by the media is a very dangerous precedent for such an emotive and serious issue. Domestic violence is one of the most serious issues facing society in my opinion! To have it being trampled on by petulant spoilt movie “stars” is the biggest indictment on a decadent and declining civilization!

judge not lest ye be judged thyself!

I think that’s a reasonable assessment. Two things can be true at the same time.

I do find Heard’s testimony eminently and entirely credible: what she says rings more true than Depp’s vague and obfuscatory retellings. Depp’s calculated denials all seem less persuasive, not least due to the irresponsible lifestyle he wilfully chose to lead during their marriage. (They both appear to have been under the influence of one illegal substance or another at almost every turn. No wonder it was a, ahem, volatile relationship.)

But it’s her word against his, largely. If any one of the many despicable assaults she alleges he made on her actually happened, then he really needs to sort himself out. Let’s hope both of them learn a useful lesson from this regrettable experience, and use it to find some happiness hereafter.

Harrowing viewing, but compelling nonetheless.

Hook her up to a lie detector please.

I don't like when judgement is made by psychologists. Facts only please.

The police who came after the day she was said to be abused don't recall anything outside she was red faced. If punched in the face as said you can't hide it.

Yes against any domestic violence, no against false testimony violence.

There are so many women to save.

Amber is clearly part of the system.

Also vety important, why Depp would become violent where all previous girlfriends/wife state the opposite ?

When you are under drugs as a couple, bear the consequences together. Shame on the two.

By the way, we are talking about actors, for whom the act of pretending is a high skill. So no issue to fake any psychological condition.

"Jurors heard a hail of insults flying both ways. The actress was heard admitting to "hitting" Mr Depp before mocking him and calling him a "baby"." - BBC

If one lives on a public stage as an entertainer then, apparently, everything occurs on a public stage and even the worst becomes 'entertainment' as this courtroom drama is proving to be for so many. The main issue of contention seems to boil down to 'can a 'man' be the victim of spousal abuse?'. If the diagnosis of Heard as "Borderline Personality Disorder" is valid, being married to that given its clinical description is all one might need to see Depp as the aggrieved.
