I will buy a copy for a Christmas present for my girl friend.

Michibata is the subject of a 10-page special feature in the magazine, which includes a double page spread of nude photos.

Sounds about 8 pages too long.

Sorry but I just dont see the point of this. Seems like nothing more than a publicity stunt.

When will these cheap women learn that getting your bits out for the (public) camera is not classy at all. And to think that people want to pay to see you... How very vain and shallow. Horrible self-centered woman.

I don't think I'd go THAT far, although I agree it's pretty shallow. Bottom line is, though, it's her choice. If she wants to be a voyeur and earn some cash for it, so be it. Sadly, society will oblige -- we are still animals after all.

Well, thats what is so weird - its actually a womens magazine! But replace saddos and sexists with women who want to torture themselves with the unachievable (you can bet these pics will have been airbrushed and have the best lighting and camera effects) and you are pretty spot on. Why would you pose naked in a womens magazine other than to get yourself some attention and try to overshadow your sis - this is by the way a rival magazine for the one she normally poses for.

@Tokyokawasaki - I think I love you! ;-) Since the days of "Calendar Girls" (Womens Institute member who posed naked to raise money for charity) there seems to have been a spate of women getting their kit off for various reasons charitable and otherwise. It is getting pretty old now and I agree, not classy at all. Keep it for the private times girls, there is no excitement at all in putting it out there for all to see.

(Mind you, if I was still 26 and offered a lot of money i cant pretend I wouldnt be tempted, and I have considered getting some private shots done with a soft focus lens and in a good light before I turn 40 so maybe I am just a hypocrit!)

Showing of genitalia is banned in Japan, ditto for bought intercourse anything besides actual penetration is legal. So a massage with a happy-end is legal. As for TV they got rules and set times as to what can be shown when.

You aren't alone, growing business for 30's/40's to take pics of themselves to preserve the image, etc. Many pro's specialise in those now. And I guess you are talking David Hamilton style pics. ;)

We need to organize a liberal gestapo to round up the prude patrol an deal with them severely. Nudity is pure and great and if you're beautiful, well then that's superb.

Yeah, ITS ME - dont actually know who David Hamilton is (!) but I think you know what I am thinking. It would be a nice thing to keep. I still have some portfolio shots back from when I was modelling at 20/21, and it is kind of nice to look back at them now, nearly 20 years later. I am nothing like how I used to be, but still hanging in there after 3 kids and keepin it together - for the most part anyway! Just need to find a decent non-creepy photographer.

Would like to be able to look back on some decent shots of me now when I am 60, sigh and think "those were the days!"

Im not a pervert, but i don't really see a big deal with nudity. The reactions are over rated and we all our born naked, so i think its natural. Besides my wife and I go nude on the beach by our house in Hawaii every once in a while, what ever. I just don't care. You got to respect your body, just like its the environment.

I love nudity. That is how I take my shower every day.

The human body, if taken care of looks great nude. If not taken care of, it looks really bad and should be covered up.

Everybody appears nude in these days, no news. Aging Hollywood stars, models on the runway, amateurs in home videos, walking girls in the streets offer free anatomy classes down from waist, girls and mid-aged women surprising their boyfriends by sending their nude photos over their mobile and people think nude is automatically sexy. Now we are at the point when they have nothing else to show and nudity became a talent. It would be refreshing to see a nice women who is dressed interestingly and can be sexy, lovely, and beautiful even like that. oooh yeah, and can make some sense. :-D

Agree. And as I was saying earlier, so long as this woman has no problems with it -- and respects herself -- I don't see how others can rightfully criticize.

Nicky: I was unaware it was a woman's mag (I almost never buy any mags here at all, so not sure), and that's interesting. I wonder if PART (definitely not all) was to expand the market for this particular issue, as I'm sure some men will buy it just for the spread, so to speak.

The sad thing is that the 2012 AKB 48 calendar will be more popular with most Japanese men than a magazine with photos of an attractive 26 year old woman!

smithinjapan: How does her posing nude make her a voyeur? A voyeur is someone who gains sexual gratification by looking at sexual objects or acts, especially secretively. A peeping tom is a voyeur. Someone who poses nude and enjoys doing so would be considered an exhibitionist.

The very idea that the nude shoot might accompany an article about models and body image never occurred to any of you, did it? Fashion magazines don't just have pictures of pretty clothes. Women (and some men) do actually read things in them.

The majority of models in the industry are hideously insecure, and that's something not a lot of people know. More power to her if she's secure enough in her own skin to appear nude -- I wish I had the courage to do that! Maybe that's what she's doing a shoot for the sake of -- being happy in your own skin.

And it isn't as if she's going to be plastered spread-eagled all over the pages; the cover looks tastefully shot with a more dramatic eye than perhaps an exhibitionist one, and I'm certain the rest will be, too. The human body is a beautiful thing, and there's no reason to be ashamed of or hide it.

Nudity is not porn, its not necessary sexual. i go nude on the beach everyone in a while, who cares if some sees me naked. I still just don't care. You got to respect your body, just like its the environment. The Onsen is among the worlds best inventions.

There is nothing possibly more beautiful than a nude woman - and Ms.Michibata sure is one fine specimen! Let's all just hope she inspires more Japanese lasses to do the same.

Nudity is what we make of it and a woman is just as beautiful with her clothes on as she is when there off. If a see a painting or tasteful photo of a nude woman it shows her pure essence....purity. It is only ones mind that twists it into a sexual exploit...do not get me wrong it is in the presentation of that woman...if she has her legs spread for all to see in the photo then that seems sexual..As I said "Tasteful"........
