I boldly predict Apple TV+ will fail.

I boldly predict Apple TV+ will fail.

I'm curious to know why. I don't know enough about the subject to have a properly formed opinion on whether it will be successful or not, but it would seem to be that being installed by default on all apple devices, along with giving away free subscriptions to get people on the platform, would set themselves up for success - if they can follow it up with programming people want to see.

And on that note, have you seen See - their flagship show? It's awesome! I love it.

Because it is only available on apple devices. They only have 21% (and falling) of the smartphone market worldwide. It is unlikely that Apple TV+ will sell more iphones so they will never have access to 79% of the market.

Cross platform competitors that can be viewed on 100% of devices should be able to run them off.

By that logic, iphones themselves should be a failure. Which, they clearly are not.

What makes you think that they would require that 79% to not fail, when they haven not failed in the cell phone market without that 79%?

I don't know if they will fail or not, but if they do fail, it will be because the profits are not there. Your above reasoning hasn't shown an inability to be profitable, it has simply pointed out the circumstances of the market in which they are operating.

My company probably has less than 1% of 1% of our market - and we haven't failed, we've been very successful.

One does not need to have 100% of the market, or even market dominance, to not fail.

My wife has a Huawei phone, I have a Samsung, son has an iphone and a Surface Pro. And I know we are not the only family in that situation.

Ok, so what about that makes you think they will fail?

I can't check now because my kids are watching TV, but according to this article Apple TV is available on Fire TV. It also says "Apple TV+ Is Going to Be Available Everywhere". Also I would assume it is on Apple's own TV box, which already means it isn't limited to people that own Apple smartphones.

I'm not part of the actual Apple TV which won't work in Japan anyway.

Not sure what you mean. It is available worldwide including Japan.

There's pros and cons to internet and (to a lesser extent) cable tv. Now people can watch what they want when they want. The downside is that it divides the people who don't all watch the same vetted-for-truth-by-more-than-one-reputable-source news and thinks vaccines cause autism, Obama isn't american and is muslim instead of Christian, etc. Pros and cons.

Funnily enough, Fox News and RT in Russia seem to now have the same owner as the stories, especially concerning trump, are biased the same with the same talking points. Internet tv and even the loosening of restrictions in the name of freedom has caused this.

Therougou:

I've gone online to watch stuff and it's either not there or, If displayed in some cases, says "content not available in your location or country." I shouldn't need a VPN to watch stuff. I don't live in china and the show/livestream is coming from a first world democracy, not china.
