One of the best-selling pop artists in the last decade, Grande was as of Sunday was the second-most streamed female artist in 2021 on Spotify, after Taylor Swift and ahead of Dua Lipa.

That does not mean much this days, but I guess the NY rapper had a case if he got a settlement. The music industry are just one of the many US industries that have been mining African-American culture for generations to repackage it and resell it to European-Americans. It was easier steal from them before the civil rights movement and modern technology like the internet. They are "culture-vultures". Japan is no different! They like the culture, but they do not like the people.

A US comedian once said, "Everyone wants to be Black, but no one wants to be Black." Another

When I read the headline, I thought they were going to send the Hobbits after her.

So, did she really steal the charcoal grill?

Her music is generic, uninspired, indistinguishable from many others in her field today. Not very interesting or original at all.

At first, confused with the complainant with the UK’s talented R&B ‘Joss Stone’. But, she’s classy and always acknowledges the source of her influences and ‘cover songs’.

Not to worry, rapper & ‘sampler’ JoSH Stone will ‘get paid’. The ‘music business’ like Hollywood has always been shady, where the exploiters ‘get rich’ off the backs of the ‘talent’.

For her part, Ariana Grande did acknowledge the true, original singer writers and artists - ‘Rodgers and Hammerstein’ -

Thanks for Today’s “...’member berries” @comanteer 9:52a. First, TWD ‘Otis & Carl’ in the ‘Deerhunter’ story and now, ‘Middle Earth’. “Celebrimbor was said to have yielded the Seven (Rings)- all the Seven - to Sauron.” - The Hobbits only came into contact with “The One Ring”.

But, the NY rapper is not BIPOC @Numan. So, with this one, ‘race was Not the case’; Money was. - Let’s save ‘calling out’ racism for when its evident.

There is a song playing in the US in "HEAVY ROTATION the guitar sample was lifted from one of UTADA's hit songs in Japan. I know for a fact credit was not given and the royalties are not being paid. What could be happening is the publishing company or the owner in Japan knows this and have not filed suit. I think that is very smart because the more the song sells, the larger the settlement!!! Been there before!

So, @kaimycahl 9:29p What’s that UTADA song?

I don’t get this. Hip hop recycles other people’s music. Sampling, copying, re-using, whatever, it’s the thing they do. The hook, the beat, lyrics, it doesn’t matter. That’s rap.

The most original hip hop artist out there today is Labi Siffre and he’s 75.

If you actually read carefully, I said African-American culture. Those are your issues about race shinning through.

Issues that I mentioned were about the culture like hip hop/rap, and a majority of the most popular forms of music started in the US were invented by the African-American culture.

Get it!

From the woman that spits on donuts, so yeah, sounds like her.

No, @Numan. You can stop ‘projecting’. Those are ALL Yours. We can discuss it again when you find an article about your issues and questions and post relevant comments there to those topics. No issue of ‘cultural misappropriation was mentioned here, in this article. - Peace -

Because the article did not mention it does not mean it is not there.

LOL! You assuming that I am African-American and/or that is how they all communicate.

Those are your issues about race shinning through.
