I love Jackie!

The guy is always full of class and humor !

@bannedaccstam - I've always liked Jackie too, but I lost some respect for him after his "America is the most corrupt country in the world..." comments. All countries are corrupt in some way, but to make a sweeping generalization about a country that he's made millions of dollars from while ignoring his own is not very classy.

He could also be good as a character actor. The could open up roles for years to come. Time to end type casting for good and find out what some of the actors can really do. Let him sing, try him for comedy, how about a little love and romance, adventure as well as drama. Let him play the villain as well. The villain often gets to have more fun from the acting end of the game. Free Jackie and let him soar.

Jackie is great at what he does, but don't think he has a "full range" in English language medium....

Chan said his manager thought the role would be good but told him the amount of dialogue was too tough.

Says it all.

I believe I know what is Jackie's secret to staying young: EXERCISE. I remember seeing someone I knew in 1968 who turned out to look exactly the same in 2012. He keeps exercising everyday doing Karate Katas and running and other hard exercises. He couldn't remember me. I don't exercise that hard anymore.

Jackie is now a spokesperson for China, they also control by way of influence many of the decisions hollywood makes. think of Ironman where 20 minutes of chinese only film was produced - and none of it was suitable for international audiences.

so though i cannot stand watching Jackie due to his being the party moughpiece - he probably will get hollywood roles due to the chinese market influence on hollywood

Don't worry Jackie, you're immortal in my mind!

@inakaRob

Interesting. When did he say this? You have an article link?

I luv ya Jackie, but you ain't no Hoffmann.

Hang in there Jackie! I look forward to you breaking through that barrier & showing your full range!!!!

@movieguy, I've also liked always liked Jackie Chan, and he is certainly entitled to his opinion, but I find it amusing when people like him make their fortune in the US, and turn around and make such sweeping negative generalizations. They do this but they certainly don't have any problem reaping the benefits from the country they so loathe.

I hope you get it, Jackie. Some of your comments of late have been controversial, but you have entertained us literally for decades, in various languages and nations. A Hollywood nod would be well earned. Not sure how I'd feel seeing you in a drama, but all the same...

He was pretty good in "Shinjuku Incident"... that wasn't funny, and the stunts were more realistic than anything else. I think he's great though... some of the stuff he used to do beggars belief. Watch "Thunderbolt"... how he never broke every bone in that one is beyond me.

I enjoyed Jackie Chan in "Shinjuku Incident". It's a good drama and you can see the dark side of Jackie in that film. It's definitely a chance of pace. No comedy and no special martial arts by him.

Armour of God - where he fell from that tree and fractured his skull...

“It’s just ... my English is not that good,” Chan explains.

That's it in a nutshell. I was actually surprised at how much coaching he needed in order to do "Rush Hour 2". From his movies I though his English was much better than that, but then in the blooper reel he puts at the end of his movies... wow. Ultimately it was his choices that put him in this position. He would have had a better shot at those movies he wanted to do in Hollywood if he had studied English more intensely. This late in his career he would practically need to spend a year in an English-speaking country in order to get "immersed".

He might think he can get those roles, but he's not a good actor. Action and comedy, yes, but not dramatic. I can't imagine him in Saving Private Ryan or Philadelphia.

I work in post-prod and Hollywood is filled with crooks. You may be the best of the best, but if you're not bribing the right person or do couch casting for actors, you will have a really hard time to get work. We get scraps, because we refuse to do this.

Interesting he would mention De Niro at the end there, who basically did the reverse of what Chan wants to do. (De Niro was once a serious dramatic actor and now he is only in comedies.)

I really like Jackie Chan and I think HE DOES NOT NEED HOLLYWOOD! He and China etc..have more than enough $$ to make great movies where he does not have to run around jumping doing kung fu, mabye he should hook up with Bollywood out in India??

Jackie Chan seems to think that he has a right to be in Hollywood films. Sounds like he needs less "yes-men" surrounding him.

Why not get validation from Hollywood through producing & directing not necessarily acting in a movie? Isn't is worse to damage your image by starring in mediocre action film? Regardless, Good luck to you Jackie!

..... if you are openly anti-American you can not expect to hate us but still make money off us.

He's anti-American for making critical remarks about American corruption? That puts a lot of Americans in the same boat.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Don't be greedy Jackie. You've already been embraced by the CCP.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Sorry. Hollywood doesnt want you. America doesn't want you. You are anti American and have come out in the media saying so. Sorry but if you are openly anti-American you can not expect to hate us but still make money off us.
