A new hope remake VS cowboys and Indians in space not much in it really.

Space Opera remake vs Dances with blue Aliens/Wolves.

Avatar was great for the technology uses but that was it.

"A New Hope" remake vs. a Disney's "Pochohontas" remake would be closer.

Force Awakens made way more $ than avatar... The avatar toys by Mattel didn't sell, and there were no avatar pickles, avatar shampoo bottles, or avatar airplanes.

Entirely possible, but this article only addresses "box office" or ticket sales. There's still the BlueRay/DVD sales to come, but that revenue will not affect "The Force Awakens" box office totals.

That top 3 is sad. And I'm not judging, I mean, i saw all 3 in theatre, but really, those are 3 really bad movies.

I wonder why, given Avatar's popularity, they haven't franchised the crap out of it like they do with every even moderatly succesful film these days. Its been 6 or 7 years since it came out and no sequel or anything.

I am not a huge fan if it, but that kind of seems curious to me, a sequel would probably be easy money but they haven't taken it up yet for some reason.

There are three more Avatars in the works. However, they are behind the original schedule: http://www.thewrap.com/james-camerons-avatar-2-wont-be-ready-for-christmas-2017-exclusive/

........I don't know, I am guilty for having watched both the theatres which I do 2 maybe 3times a year...........

Avatar while need the story was SO predictable it was lame

The latest star wars movie to me seems a bout 90% the same as a PREVIOUS star wars movie, A RIP OFF of itself & ME!!!

I need to play that Who song about not being fooled again!!

I was never a fan of James Cameron's movies, I mean I like them enough but I cannot see why they are such a huge success, all that Cameron does, seems to me of grandeur, his movies makes me think of a huge ego behind, I'd rather prefer Spielberg or Ridley Scott, I don't deny Cameron's movies are good, but that's just it...

As for Avatar's sequels, not interested, the first one, for some reason made me think a lot of Neon Genesis Evangelion that I didn't find the story that original, and since i didn't see it in 3d it didn't feel like a such great experience

I enjoyed Avatar, but it really wasn't all that great imo. Avatar fell into the category of Dances with wolves, The Last Samurai etc, but in space. And it also qualified as another "white savior" film. If there are going to be more avatar films then I'll see how it goes since it will have to move beyond the old theme of the first.

Star Wars is still the classic good vs evil, but in space as well. But since I've grown up with SW I can enjoy it more since it has a lot of lore built behind the characters and themes.
