Singer Ayaka, 20, on Wednesday joined in a concert of Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Powter, 37, in Harajuku as a surprise guest. In the concert for 300 specially invited fans at Astro Hall, Ayaka appeared on stage and sang “Bad Day” and other songs with Powter.
Ayaka said afterwards: “Our countries are different. But I felt very comfortable singing with him because he's something like my brother.” Powter added, “Ayaka is a very talented artist. I'm happy to perform with her and I wish we would have some singing sessions again.”

Cheesy music is a cheesy international language!

Ugh, he's still riding on that one, horrible song.

How is he something like your brother? Same father or mother? And I really do think what Powter said has been paraphrased. Sounds like it has been translated into Japanese and then back into English again, and so maybe could do without quotations, making it as direct speech.

Wow two of the most talentless people in the world on the same stage, much as Captain and Tenielle.

Ayaka is overrated, can people stop comparing her to Utada already.

Can someone explain the deal with all these one name "talents" Is this something trendy?

'Bad Day' was a great hit in 2005, but nothing impressive since. Whether Daniel and Ayaka are overrated or talentless hangs on subjective views.

If the only song you heard was "Bad Day", then you don't deserve to judge. I love the song Bad Day, but I bought the whole CD and his other tracks are equally impressive. I also think this tune is totally misinterpreted. It is about how to get over a bad day, just listen to the inflection in the lyrics. So, you had a bad day..... get over it!!! He overcame some demons in his life and I believe he deserves credit for trying to lift the rest of us up out of the bad place we find ourselves in.
