"Talent" Ayame Goriki, 20, has dethroned Aya Ueto as the TV commercial queen for the first half of 2013.

According to Video Research Co, Goriki had the most air time -- her commercials were aired 10,793 times for a total exposure of 173,005 seconds. Last year's No. 1 Ueto was second with 8,210 commercials aired for 134,790 seconds.

The research, which ran through Jan 1-June 30, targeted five TV stations in three areas -- Kanto, Kansai and Nagoya.

Which tells me that all Japanese companies are like sheep, and once one company decided to use this girl in their commercials, everyone else jumped on board. Now imagination, or independent thinking! Just follow the crowd. Good for this girls bank account I guess.

New year, new girl, same sense of tarento fatigue taken to the extreme.

ahhhhh giraffe girl. No idea why she is so popular.

Wouldn't kick her out of bed for her looks, but she acts like she is 10 years old in these TVCM's especially that sandwich one

Gogogo i agree, i shudder about the Gatchaman movie, her behavior in these CM's gives a new dimension to overacting, way over the top!

When speaking of chips, shouldn't the potato be sliced and fired before you eat it? Eating them raw isn't so much fun.

There was nothing funnier this year, than seeing her attempt to "sing" her song on TV a few weeks ago.

It was worse than the worst off-key karaoke you've ever heard. Although, that is par for the course with most Japanese pop music.

She is dull and just a KDDI attempt to copycat Softbank's Aya Ueto cover girl.

Recipe for Japanese advertising:

Company signs girl Appears absolutely EVERYWHERE for the next six months - I'm talking skincare products to releasing albums Disappears, only to reappear six months later in the back row of the guest panel on some lame "comedy" show

i can't understand why companies in j-land do this? because she is on so many commercials, i just tune her out whenever i see her. surely most j-people feel the same, don't they?

In Japan, the fact that something doesn't work or is disliked by most people, often has zero effect on whether it will continue to be done.

Have bought all the products she advertises and can confirm that my life is a better and happier place.

Ranran Suzuki was at one time the Japanese CM queen. Give it a few months, and it will be someone else.

How to combat ad fatigue and overexposure

Overexposure. This is how the media destroys a person's career.

Perhaps she is so popular because she is very Japan-o-would-be-Western? I looked up her Sandwich advert (or one of them) referenced by gogogo above http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rUg7bSnjlo

This images of her learning to do a hip-hoppy punch the air dance (which she may have learnt in New York) adds another layer of Westernization, on top of the the usual pouty, self-loving, infantile, amae and may present an attractive, identifiable, transitional image of the Japanese girl next-door attempting to become their image of a sexy, rapping, sandwich-eating New Yorker.

I like her hairdo.

Heh, tell that to the members of SMAP.

Everything moves in phases, and not just in Japan. When was the last time you saw a new Grumpy Cat meme?

Is this the kind of tactic (overexposure of someono) to promote an upcoming film?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Haters are gonna hate, she still going to collect a paycheck, and I'm going to watch her commercials. She does seem to be pulling off a lot different looks, Kpop, Moe, girl next door, and idol.

Sighclops, you forgot number 4. Get caught up in some affair with a married comedian or sports figure and the all but classic number 5. Does an almost nude book when she feels her cuteness is fading.
