BABYMETAL has finally released a music video for the lead single off their new album, “Karate,” which debuted on BBC’s Radio 1 last month. The song is what you heard a few weeks ago, so if you liked it then, you’re pretty much guaranteed to love this.

As for the video, it’s an incredibly slick production with heavy use of special effects, moody lighting, and intense costume design. We’re not sure we’d go so far as to say that it represents a more mature BABYMETAL, but it definitely seems indicative of a move towards a dark tone with a greater emphasis on the metal aspect of their “kawaii metal” music.

The full album, titled "Metal Resistance," will be released on April 1, which will also see the start of the group’s worldwide tour. You can pre-order the full album now on iTunes (Japan), Amazon (U.S.) or Amazon (UK). “Karate” is available on iTunes (Japan) or Amazon (U.S.) or you localized iTunes store.

Haters gonna hate! But the new Baby Metal is GREAT!

Anyways, wherever you're from, may the Rock Gods have mercy on your soul when they find out how self-centered and closed minded you are.

So you've never heard othe big "4" Tahoochi? Probably never been to an Ozzfest, Mayhem fest, Loudpark either. YOU know absolutely NOTHING about metal music. Stick to ur Justin Beiber & New Kids on the Block Cd's. Good riddance!!

The worst part about reading news in this site is how negative all the comments are in every article. Jesus it's music. Don't like it don't listen.

Negative comment about negative comments. Check.

Don't like it don't read it. Check.

Wow! That was....bad.

The riff was ok. I guess. Pretty much bubble gum metal. The fake drums...Well, I've never seen a metal band with a drum machine. Kind misses the point.

And then the vocals kicked in. ]Seriously, listen to it with an equalizer, tune out all the vocals, and you got J Pop.

FAIL

Wc626: I really don't understand what you're bragging about. California? ...never heard of such a country.

Anyways, wherever you're from, may the Rock Gods have mercy on your soul when they find out how self-centered and closed minded you are.

Japan is Japan. It's not wherever you're from.

. . . And likewise Tahoochi. Metal is Metal. It's not wherever you're from. But me, I'm from CALIFORNIA. Boasting of some of the "best" metal the world has ever known.

@Tahoochi. Three. (Yes, that's right 3!!) of the Big-4 metal bands, the worls loves, are from CA. So put that n' ur pipe & puff it.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Well, that's your opinion and I'll respect that... even though I disagree.

Oh and btw, you said: "Japan has got it ALL WRONG" ??? Well, Japan is Japan. It's not wherever you're from.

If you're looking at music through such a closed mind, then I'm sorry to say that YOU'VE got it ALL WRONG.

all I'm saying is that they deserve a chance

K, fair enough. They've got sum fans in North America and Europe ( . . .which is WAY more than any AKB, Arashi, E-girls, Yuzu, Kyari & rest of garbage J-pop has to offer). But honestly . . . Babymetal will never-ever headline those shows. Why? Cause its not REALLY metal-

@Wc626: I know this is going to fall on deaf ears, but who made the rule that you have to have "rock music" pumping through your veins to be a rock star? I'm not saying that these kids are rock legends, all I'm saying is that they deserve a chance, and that's what they've been given, no thanks to closed minded people like you. These kids are 18 yrs old, they can learn about rock and metal all they want from here on in if they want to.

Should those guys "strap on a guitar" and play those riffs like you say?

No dude. That's not the case. Tyler, Jagger, Plant etc had (have) great / outstanding guitarists. Tyler, Jagger, Plant have "rock music" in their veins. Aerosmith, Zepp & the Stones were NOT put together like Babymetal was.

Those 3 girls know (and knew) nothing about metal / rock. Their just hired hands. Babymetal's lead guitarist and drummer are okay though.

Look @Fruitpochette. The band is pretty awesome. (Saw them live @LoudPark, Oct. 2015.) But even they've hired two Lolita "posers" as their voice and front-singers. Why? Metal is about the metal music, not the Lolitas. Japan has got it ALL WRONG.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

@Wc626: The term "Lead vocals" comes to mind.

Based on your thinking, Jimmy Page was great, but Robert Plant wasn't? Are Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, and Mick Jagger "a bunch of posers" as well then? Should those guys "strap on a guitar" and play those riffs like you say?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@Serrano. Blasphemy!! Are you saying "Babymetal" are actually as talented as the masterpieces "Jimmy Page" or "Geddy Lee" composed? Dude, are u serious?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

BABYMETAL are awesome, just like Rush, Led Zep and Heart were awesome.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Agree w/ clamenza on this one. Oh dear, 16 is still WAY TOO young. I remember watching Tracy Lords ( bck in 80's) debut, it was so WRONG !!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Where do you get the idea that those who follow them are perverts?

If you check the civil code of Japan a 16 year old woman can marry with the consent of one parent, so are they minors?

But a man has to wait until they are 18 years old to marry

.

Ohhhh dear....

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

You just can't satisfy some people no matter what, can you. I think they're great...

They (those girls) need to learn how to strap on a guitar and play those heavy, crunchy riffs and those shreddy pentatonic scales. Until then, they're just a bunch of posers.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

@Clamenza

If I were their father, I wouldn't let them within 50 feet of the perverts who follow them

@Tahoochi

You just can't satisfy some people no matter what, can you. I think they're great... the music's amazing and the girls are cute, nothing sexual, they're just cute and fun to watch. Take it for face value, and nothing more.

Very true!!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Hey "sensei", the singer is almost 18. And, unlike other Japanese "idol" groups, BabyMetal's costumes are not sexy at all. So, you're harumphing up the wrong tree.

He's really not. Almost 18 means she's still a minor, right? In any case, I really had hoped that this would all blow itself out by now. Sadly doesn't seem to be the case and the cash cow will continue to be milked for a long while yet...

The concept is original (metal and pop fusion), and could bring a new fan base to metal and/or J-pop. Some people read too much into things. Why not take it for what it is? Brittney Spears and Christina Aguilera were kids when they started performing...

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Hi Tamarama, have to agree, all tongue in cheek bonkers. You are right to question the industry, and marketing of adolescence though.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I barely know where to start with this caper. A Kitsch, parody of both pop and metal genres....that some people (including the performers) seem to take seriously.

It's marketing gone loopy isn't it? It's a ridiculous spin on the underage girl gawking industry of Japan.

Super stupid.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

@Clamenza

One of the girls is 18 and the other two will be 17 in June/July.

nippon234 - so they're 16 and started out at what? 14? Let me ask you something, If they didn't look attractive, would they be the least bit famous?

If I were their father, I wouldn't let them within 50 feet of the perverts who follow them

unspeakably daft!

The Kami band are an accomplished musical force to be reckoned with. Amuse must have employed a combination alchemy and hypnotism to fuse the SU-Metal Vocal & Dance), YUI-Metal (Scream & Dance), MOA-Metal (Scream & Dance) together........

Babymetal - Kami Band....

yawn, sounding more & more like regular j-pop = crap!

The drummer and lead guitarist are actually pretty good. Too bad they can't ditch the lolitas.

Its a shame how the Entertainment Industry in Japan deems it necessity to use 3 young cute girls to be the face of the band. 3 young girls who absolutely know NOTHING about metal music. In metal music, its all about the music, not how the singer(s) look.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

pure marketing ploy with the usual underage girls for the perverts

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

Hey "sensei", the singer is almost 18

I notice you said nothing about the ridiculous over-the-top marketing part

BabyMetal's costumes are not sexy at all.

Never said they were

This ridiculous over-the-top marketing of junior high school girls turns my stomach. I can't even watch the whole video
