Japanese “talent” Becky, whose affair with musician Enon Kawatani made headlines and subsequently got her banned from Japanese television for several months last year, will make an appearance as commentator for a New Year’s Day special of Fuji TV’s program "Wide na Show."

Alongside her will be Hirotada Ototake, who last year dealt with a scandal of his own when it was revealed in March by a tabloid magazine that he’d had affairs with five different women since the birth of his oldest son in 1998. Ototake is a famed educator and author, born without any arms or legs due to tetra-amelia syndrome. Before the scandal, the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan had considered Ototake to run in the summer 2016 upper house elections.

The two will appear on "Wide na Show: Gantan SP" (New Year’s Day Special) as guest commentators. For Ototake, this will be his first time back on the program as a commentator since February, though Becky’s last appearance on the same program was only back in October. She has been back in the entertainment world since she made her first official reappearance on the program "Full Chorus – Music is Full Chorus" last summer.

Topics expected to be covered on the special New Year’s program include outlooks for the world of show business in the coming year, sudden changes of major world leaders including the new U.S. president-elect Donald Trump, and a number of other various topics. The program will air from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

If you are more familiar with American TV, here’s a random fun-fact: Becky’s sister, Jessica Rabone, was in season 12 of "So You Think You Can Dance!" While Jessica has all the moves to rival a Japanese hip-hop trio, Becky looks content to set her goals on redeeming herself in the eyes of the Japanese public with more frequent appearances on local television programs.

Welcome back Becky!. One of the few talents I can put up with on TV.

I have no idea whether she asked or not. I've never claimed otherwise.

No but you grab an issue, like a dog with a bone in it's teeth, and never let go.

And how do you she did not?

I have no idea whether she asked or not. I've never claimed otherwise.

How do you know Becky didn't ask that?

And how do you she did not?

Hirotada Ototake, who last year dealt with a scandal of his own when it was revealed in March by a tabloid magazine that he’d had affairs with five different women...

Logistically speaking, this is very impressive. It would seem he needs quite a bit of help getting around with no arms or legs and I doubt a small woman could pick him up. Does he have an assistant?

Ask....."Are you married?" Is that so hard?

And if/when they lie?

How do you know Becky didn't ask that?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

And exactly how would you do that?

Ask....."Are you married?" Is that so hard?

Like "Rola". Do you really think she's like that when she doesn't need to be?

Like I said, maybe two-faced is a bit harsh, but they all have two-sides, one the public image that they portray and one that is them privately.

If Rola is like that all the time.....damn.

Oh god, she's back. And I had such high hopes for 2017.

Can't blame Becky for taking up with Kawatani as she didn't know he was married.

I found this the hardest thing to believe.

She is not some bubbled headed teenager. And man, or woman for the matter, would find out if the person they having sex with was married or not, particularly Becky and the type of work she does.

She must have known, and only became apologetic and what not AFTER the fact, like so many other folks in the public eye here.

Personally I do not give a shit about what folks do in their private lives, it's none of my damn business. But she is not a child and she faced the consequences and dealt with it, I for one hope she becomes a better person for it.

sensei: Like the type found at cash registers in every supermarket in the US reporting about alien abductions, big foot sightings, and other dubious events. There's a reliable source

Says another outlet:

When confronted by the magazine, Ototake admitted to the allegations. “There were sexual relations,” he is quoted by the magazine. “It does not matter if I have to recognize adultery.” He also confessed to having had five mistresses while married.

Developing his brand ...

I hope she is!!!

ALL celebrities here are two faced, they have to be to be in their business.

I actually don't think most J ppl judge her for what she did but rather for the lies, deception etc following the scandal. They think she's two faced and they don't like that. Again reckon J public was rather naive before the scandal broke as there is no such thing as a 'pure' talento in J tv's ruthless world/Industry.

More like a little of both really. People here get an image in their head of any celebrity and once their bubble is popped they get depressed and stop liking them.

In my opinion, ALL celebrities here are two faced, they have to be to be in their business.

Her problem is that she had projected a pure and next door girl persona as her fake TV image. Hard to sell that while sleeping with a married man...

Becky has to reinvent herself. Ppl have lost trust in her, they now know she's not the cute, 'pure' etc girl that she was portrayed to be.

Welcome back Becky, I still love you!. I think your eyes are frikken awesomely gorgeous!

I highly doubt she was banned, there is no master Japanese TV boss in the sky.

It's called their "talent agency" . Public figures and celebrities are held to a different standard. Hell 99's Okumura bumbed a guy with his car the other day and it was top news on TV for one "news break".

Average people don't go through the same crap, and for the life of me why these people do is beyond me as well.

He got divorced. Also, he's a musician. Probably boosted his career.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Still a story rotten with the double standards applied to men and women. Didn't the bloke she hooked up with pretty much just carry on as per normal?

I highly doubt she was banned, there is no master Japanese TV boss in the sky. She took the time off so people could forget.
