Becky, Yonekura, Youn-a, Zawachin win Best Beautist Awards

The winners of this year's Best Beautist Awards were announced on Wednesday -- Becky, 30, for the television personality category, Ryoko Yonekura, 39, for the actress category, Youn-a, 29, for the model category, and imitation make-up artist Zawachin, 22, in the special category.

The awards are given to beautiful and successful women each year.

Becky said that she puts a lot of effort into making her eyelashes look appealing. "I'm desperate to look cuter," she said.

Yonekura, who is currently starring in the hit TV series “Doctor X,” said "I'm not too conscious about how I look. Too much make-up causes more wrinkles."

Youn-a, who married a Japanese businessman in October, said, "I am very happy because when I change my make-up everyday, I get compliments from my husband.”

The winners of this year’s Best Beautist Awards were announced on Wednesday...

How come so many of these "awards" in Japan require butchering the English language?

“I’m desperate to look cuter,” she said.

“I’m not too conscious about how I look. Too much make-up causes more wrinkles.”

“I am very happy because when I change my make-up everyday, I get comppliments from my husband.”

Wow! Luckily, with "role-models" like these three, kawaii will never die in Japan.

Yes, I would agree that Becky is "desperate"! To each his own, but I really don't understand why Japanese think she is so good looking or cute?

WTH is a "beautist?"

Never heard of "Youn-a" and don't understand how Zawachin won when she only shows everything above her eyes. But egads....Becky and Yonekura Ryoko. Can't stomach either of them. It's bad enough that such inane awards exist, but to give it to Becky and Yonekura Ryoko. Ugh!

WTH is a "beautist?"

A person in Australia who overuses the Australianism 'beaut' and its variations, such as "You beaut!", "You bewdy", "That cake was beaut, darl!"

Strewth!

I don't think men find Becky attractive. Only Japanese women do!

With the exception of Yonekura, these should all be considered anti-role-models. Fixating on your eyelashes somehow is encouraged as a thing for young people ti care about? And Youn-A?! だれ?!had to google her. Her blog show your archetypical boring Japanese celeb blogger, complete with carefully chosen pictures, displaying happiness and success, eating out and traveling a lot.

I hope the insecure youth of Japan see through this BS, but I don't have too high hopes...

I think Becky got her teeth done. When I first saw her on TV, she looked like she could eat an apple through a tennis racket.

These awards are stupid. How are they even determined and who cares? Becky... yeah, Shelly is much better looking.

Usual suspects. Just promoters doing their jobs.

“I am very happy because when I change my make-up everyday, I get compliments from my husband.”

Of course, every man likes to feel like they are with a different woman every day, as long as they are still pretty.

“I am very happy because when I change my make-up everyday, I get compliments from my husband.” - Youn-a contribution to women's empowerment, sorry JT I know this is coming down, it just makes you want to take it out on the furniture.

I saw on the telly this morning that Ryoko Yonekura won her award for having "the most natural-looking" make-up. So you get a prize for taking the most effort to apply make-up in such a way that it looks like you're not wearing make-up.

And when I started shouting at the screen when I saw someone having a mask on in a photo line-up, my fruitful vine pointed out that hiding her face is what makes her a talent. That's her schtick - we didn't know what she looks like. Except now we do, because it was revealed in another of those hard-hitting documentaries. So now, by wearing her mask, she's reminding us of her heyday. Like when Fred Astaire would wear a tailcoat in the 1950s.

Another pointless popularity contest.

Who is Yonekura Kyoko?

"WTH is a "beautist?"

Eh? If you have some time in Japan, you should know they love to join foreign words together to form a "new" one. Like "sekuhara" (sexual harassment), for example.

In this case, "beautist" must probably mean "beautiful artist".

Chris Becks lost weight. Too much thin Becks, get a bit of muchi muchi back.

"Best beautist"?? What is that even supposed to mean?

Oh hell, this gets worse. I've just looked it up, and Zawachin first achieved fame with her "impersonation" of what someone from AKB48 would look like if she wore a surgical mask and didn't sing or dance.

They've stopped scraping the bottom of the barrel and started digging under it.

"Best Beautist"

Tee hee, this one tickles the ol' funny bone! Becky is cute, and Yonekura is drop-dead gorgeous.
