So, who is Mr. Fincannon exactly? His name is mentioned three times, but no mention of who he is.

This show was called "Mayberry 110" when it was shown in Japan.

Andy was great as the one-armed bad guy in Spy Hard with Leslie Nielsen.

Great show, great man, a true gentleman, when you are awarded from the President "the medal of Freedom" that should tell you something. Most actors don't even get that kind of recognition these days. Hollywood just can't produce legends like Griffith anymore. My heart goes out to him and his family. RIP, you were a true original and one the classic legends, make me smile and laugh a lot in my childhood.

What a great entertainer, brought a lot of happiness to people over the years. Did anyone else watch Junkyard 1? He was a guy in a junkyard who built a rocket.

R.I.P. Andy. He was certainly a true American Icon and a very good human being. Since I grew up in the Carolinas, his show was practically a religion in our local region. He will truly be missed.

Here is the Andy Griffith show theme song with lyrics for those who never that there words to the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9BvKREK1rU

Growing up in the sixties, with Andy beside me, was heaven.

No JohhnyG, you're confusing him with Jim Nabors/Gomer Pyle.

They did do the same program. To me Jim Nabors was the perfect marine! He also was funny in the Andy Griffith show.

And sadly, George Lindsey/Goober Pyle (Gomer's cousin) also recently passed away.

RIP Andy thanks for the great memories from you Barnie Gomer and co, didnt Gomer have a brother called Goober who ran the tyre shop?

I think i reacll th alleged affair in the 60's with Rock Hudson but little else.

That was Jim Nabors, and it was false...

"An urban legend states that Nabors married Rock Hudson in the 1970s. In fact the two were never more than friends. According to Hudson, the legend originated with a group of "middle-aged homosexuals who live in Huntington Beach" who sent out joke invitations for their annual get-together. One year, the group invited its members to witness "the marriage of Rock Hudson and Jim Nabors", at which Hudson would take the surname of Nabors' most famous character, Gomer Pyle, becoming "Rock Pyle". Those who failed to get the joke spread the rumor"

Andy, give Aunt Bee a hug from me....

Wow. I remember that show. I remember watching that show so long ago. He was the ultimate TV father. A true "good guy" icon that showed what American fairness and honor was what we were supposed to be about. Talk about timing. Right around Independence day of all days. RIP Andy. A dad that all kids would have or at least should have wanted. RIP "Best TV Dad" Andy.

I wish all Sheriffs and Police were like him! Would be a much better world! RIP "Andy" I will always remember you...

Rest in Peace Andy. I didn't know that Jim Nabors played "THE Gomer Pyle" on the show. I only knew Jim Nabors as Private Gomer Pyle on "Gomer Pyle, USMC". That too was a funny show...but back to Andy Griffith. Sad to see him gone.

Suginamiguy Yes my late wife and I loved the show, but I recall the title being "Salvage 1".

RIP Sheriff Andy you were the best!

Andy Griffith's performance in Elia Kazan's A Face in the Crowd was electrifying and showed that he was a man of complexity and depth. I rarely watch a repeat of The Andy Griffith Show and not come away with a lesson on how to be a better person and father. RIP, Andy.
