Popular J-pop singer Beni performed before an audience of 3,500 over the weekend at America's largest anime convention, the 2010 Anime Expo, at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

The singer performed her latest song, “YuraYura,” along with 6 others.

In English, she told audience members, “I spent my elementary school days here in southern California. This is a very special day for me.”

I wouldn't make a big deal of her speaking English, especially since she used to host an English-language program on NHK.
