Once again, leftist ideology is full of racism, let’s continue to separate by the color of our skin. Just sad!

I’m curious do they have the Asian awards?

It’d be better, for everyone, if you just admitted you were wrong, that BET isn’t exclusively black, take it as a learning experience, and just move on.

Comparing the 1980’s to 2022 is comical.

Great. We won’t be hearing any more from you about the Bible and 2nd Amendment. Since it’s 2022.

As long as people keep living in the past nothing ever changes! Comparing the 1980’s to 2022 is comical.

Mocheake, yes well before my time.

The whole music industry long before Elvis, The Beatles, Springsteen etc etc owes a debt of gratitude,

Black artists cultivating every genre of poplar music. Black artists redefining the pop music culture, every tenable moment of music televised history

Racial tensions stalled recognition, arguably pop and R&B are essentially the same thing

Motown!

So why does it need these BET awards in 21st century to recognise this fact

Because modern day identity politics demands it.

BET Awards, the acronym stand for Black Entertainment Television.

> Has it never occurred to these talented gifted musicians and artists there need to pigeon hole themselves into entertainment apartheid. An awards ceremony based on exclusion.

> It seem humanity has turned full circle.

Maybe you're too young to know but when MTV started, they only played one kind of music. You are free to take a guess as to which kind. After that, BET started and then created their awards. When some groups feel their community is underserved or not served at all, this is what happens.

Off the top of my head, the only non black artists that have won BET awards is Eminem and Justin Timberlake.

Of course the BET awards have to be open to all ethnicities, Federal and State Laws and guidance on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion demand there be.

The point here is unifying communities not segregation. The entertainment industry, it's huge impact on popular culture is front center in promoting inclusion.

Positive discrimination, the BET awards reek of it, inadvertently perpetuates bias, musicians are not selected on their skills, there achievements, innovation, values, behaviours but simply to fulfill a quota.

For the record I am female and mixed race

It’s a normal reaction to be afraid of something you don’t understand. So let’s clear the misunderstandings up.

7 white artists have won at the BET awards. Any ethnicity is eligible to be nominated.

It is not exclusively for black artists.

@MondaiGaru how can you possible assume that white men made the comments?

The county music awards have had Black artist win. Once again another racist un-educated comment.

“Award Shows like BET and the Latin music awards where created during a time when artist of color where not recognized in Majority of white awards ceremonies.”

MondaiGaru I’ve got some bad news for ya. This is 2022 not 1956. It’s time for these un-inclusive shows to go Bye,Bye!

MondaiGaru: there are black country music singers and hence eligible CMT award recipients. How many eligible white or asian BET award recipients are there?

There was Charlie Pride, a black star in the country field. He died in 2020 from CoVid-19. And there's a black lady country performer too but I think the CMT dismissed her last year. Then again, the 'country' music genre, or what passes for it today is pretty much dead anyway. A pitiful joke.

why are we still having an award show dedicated to Blacks only? Isn’t that racist?

Short answer ‘no’.

Long answer ‘no, of course not’.

Typical white male responses above. Should I say that the Country Music Awards are racist because most of those artists are white and from the South? Many of the artists in BET are not mainstream (i.e., popular outside of their genre). Award shows like BET and the Latin music awards were created during a time when artists of color were not recognized in majority white awards ceremonies. It's not 'racist' nor is it exclusionary. It allows for a wider distribution of awards for categories not included it the Grammy's, Billboards, and AMA's.

With all the so called inclusiveness in the entertainment world, why are we still having an award show dedicated to Blacks only? Isn’t that racist?
