Why is it that Movies can get away with Black folks calling each other with the "N*****" word, and no one complains ?

It's Beyonce's decision to remove the word. If we walkie-talkies want to use it, we can. But we should be aware we'll be offending lots of people. I remember using the word in the 1960s, and also being told not to use it by my mother.

Interestingly (perhaps), I love the song Spasticus Autisticus by Ian Dury. Banned by the BBC, but it featured at the opening of the London Paralympics in 2012. (links below to Ian Dury's original and the Olympics version) In this case, I think it's sending a message, and a fairly strong one.

We used to use the term in Grammar School in the early '80s until Brother Thomas heard us one break time and thrashed us all.

I haven't used it since, even though it's technically not swearing.

These "Artists" ( a term I use loosely seeing that the majority of their hits are actually written by two white men) use the N word then get upset if a white or Asian person sings their song using the full lyrics. Remember the "co writers" of these N word songs and basically most of the top 40 hits for these "Artists" are Lukasz Gottwald and Max Martin.

The hypocrisy is thick enough to cut with a knife.

Many people complain. Maybe you just aren't listening in the right direction or don't want to hear itt so you can complain later and say, "See, that's what I'm talking about right there." Someone always has a problem with whatever black people do or say.

Calling someone a spastic or spaz was out of order over 40 years ago in the UK. Hard to see how anyone can complain about it being unacceptable in 2022...

Yeah, that's a great song and Dury would definitely have been proud to see it used at the London Paralympics. Here he is speaking to the great Bob Greaves about it being banned in 1981.

I meant to write that someone ALWAYS has a problem with the way black people walk, talk, wear their hair, dress, look, etc. It never ends.

Indeed. He had polio as a child which left him disabled. The phrase "walkie-talkies" I used above was something I heard from Ian Dury. He said it was what the kids at the special needs school he went to called normal people.

The beauty pageants and reality TV stars got blasted for singing rap and hip-hop songs and not skipping the N word and it was caught on video.

Those are the lyrics written by a black person but do not sing them if you are not Black this rule applies to everyone not black so other minorities are also not permitted to sing the lyrics in full.

BTW Iive in Japan where I am a minority with few rights so please don't tell me what it is like to be a Minority.

The context given the spainish word for the colour black is negro. My mate who is Spainish name his black Labrador Negro.

I'm quite tired of people using some general terms . Here's something you may not know nor care about: In the country of my birth, there are a few million blacks. I've NEVER heard a native use the n-word, so whether OK or not, is not even a part of the conversation. I'm pretty sure White people hate generalizations, so they say things like, " My family didn't have slaves" or "I've never discriminated against anyone." Well, blacks hate generalizations, too. Here's what I say, "No one in my extended family uses the n-word word." "It wasn't me who committed that crime."

Grew up in Australia in the 70's where the term "Spaz/Spastic" was used as a derogatory expression to demean people, esp those perceived to be weak or different.

Some also used it not directly face to face, but often when referring to disabled people, as in "She's a Spazz".

In todays world of welcoming/ celebrating people who overcome challenges and disabilities - whether mental or physical - to achieve success in life, the loaded term Spaz's use by date is like way, way out of here.

I'm assuming the term carries the same baggage in the US as Australia.

So a non black singing the song has to go something like this.

" Hey you (silence instead of the N word) talking to my hoe get your ( silence again instead of the N word) face away from her"

I am not joking, several celebrities, Beauty pageant, reality TV show starts all have had to apologise even lose their jobs for singing a song that contained the N word and they are not Black.

People today are just too soft. They really need to grow thicker skins.

Oh that is because you don't get it.

They are not using "hoes" in "English" they are using it in "Ebonics" so us non " Ebonics" speaker don't actually know what the meaning of "hoes" in "Ebonics" is.

Well that was the explanation onev famous rapper gave in an interview several years back.
