They just had to go and do it.....

There was a book, Blade Runner II, which was actually quite good. I doubt they will use that as the base for the movie, but the story was viable.

Personally I'm looking forward to this. I love Blade Runner. I've seen it so many times.

Hopefully this will be good.

Will Ford be limping around in it like he did in the Star Wars movie, after they broke his leg on set?

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."

Improvised by Rutger Hauer.

Rachel - Sean Young

Gonna be hard to beat...

One of the best quotes of all time from Science Fiction movies. I didn't know it was improvised. Cool stuff.

Don't forget M. Emmet Walsh as Bryant, Edward James Olmos as Gaff, Morgan Paull as Holden, Daryl Hannah as Pris, Brion James as Leon, Joanna Cassidy as Zhora, William Sanderson as J.F. Sebastion, Joe Turkel as Doctor Eldon Tyrell and James Hong as Chew! Hard to beat indeed!

Just another 24 hours here on Japan Today...

But finally the British press are starting to report it!! ;-)

What? No mention of Philip K. Dick, genius mind and author of "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep" the book that Blade Runner is based on!

Blade walker ?

I don't see the point of continuing Deckard's story line. The ambiguity of whether he is or is not a replicant is a good part of what makes the first film so good.

The 1st Film is enough no need for a Sequel.

Soundtrack for the 1st was great but I doubt they will get Vangelis do one for the Sequel. For me the Soundtrack is a big part of the Movies enjoyment. Ditto for TV-Series.

That will make three Ford characters from beloved 80s films who had perfectly satisfying character arc conclusions being nonetheless brought back out again for another go.

Not sure what will be next. Witness 2? Regarding Henry: The Revenge?

The well will have to run dry at sone point.

So they plan on releasing it a month after Star Wars Episode 8..... Good luck with that.

With Black Sabbath on this. This is just one of those movies that should have special status, never to be re-made, prequelled or sequelled. It's gonna be over CGed to Hades. Just leave it alone!

A near-great film on many levels. Too bad they couldn't just leave well enough alone.

Yeah, I can't believe anyone would make a sequel to Blade Runner. Hollywood's imagination is bankrupt, and now they are just spoiling the world with stinky sequels. Same for Star Wars (they should have stopped with film 1).

It sounds like they are putting in the work to make it decent. I doubt Ford would reprise his role in the film if it were not being true to the memory of the original. I have the feeling that for die-hard fans it'll never be as good, but I hope it is, and like Strangerland I'm looking forward to it. Even if they do a bad job it won't change my impression and memory of the original. It's not a reboot or a remake.

I'd like to see Daryl Hannah have another go at Harrison Ford!

@Alistair Carnell

More like Blade Rocking Chair!

Don't think I'm picking on you. I say this to everyone who whines about how Hollywood's creativity is gone:

"I don't see YOUR screenplay there. Why don't you think up something TRULY original they can make?"

@Fadamor It is their job, not mine. I have a different job.
