Oh, Columbus! Of course, any new film will be the fifth Tintin adaptation. The first two films, Tintin and The Golden Fleece and Tintin and the Blue Oranges both came out in the 60s. The third was animated; Tintin and The Lake of Sharks, which came out in the 70s. They occasionally get an outing on telly and they're fine to watch as a distraction but Herge had nothing to do with them.
Tintin in Tibet and The Castafiore Emerald, for me, were an example of Georges Remi at his finest. He had left behind the naive colonial attitude of the early books and these titles were a testament to his ability to tell a great story. Whether it was the search for a long lost friend in Tibet, or a farce in the grounds of Marlinspike.
