Bob Dylan sells entire recording catalog to Sony

The jealousy is real it seems going by some of the comments.

This is the dictionary definition of "selling out" after all. But hey, nothing is sacred anymore, right? Nothing.

Uh, that ended decades ago when Michael Jackson changed the lyrics of Billie Jean to sell Pepsi.

They won't be trying to sell albums (or at least that's 5% of the plan).

No. The plan is to sell these songs to grace every single commercial for toilet paper to smartphones.

Smart move for Dylan. His family is taken care of and he is selling at what I think will be peak prices for music catalogues. These were great investments just a few years ago, but now everybody expects them to be money spinners. But with the internet and file sharing steadily eroding royalties, I don't see a great future for these expensive catalogues.

Great business, Sony. Don’t listen to Disney.- Keep giving older fans (with money to spend) what They want: hit makers that stand the test of time, reuniting ‘fan favorites’ (on-screen, together) in movies, etc.

Sony is having a BIG year: Springsteen, Dylan & Spider-Man: No Way Home, $1.7billion in box office (so far), 6th highest grossing global film (so far).
