Wow! Bobby got an extra 10 years due to the wonders of kidney & liver transplants!
Godspeed to all those donating and those receiving.

Rest In Peace, Bobby Rydell. - One of the ‘wholesome’ American singers even your grandmother would approved of.
Not to mention Grease named their Rydell High School after him.
Then came Elvis, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
The world forever changed by pop culture.

That is hopeful for a lot of folks right there. My little sister got a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2020, now she no longer has diabetes myelitis.
And the Clash.

Good news for your family @starpunk. Bobby’s career started as a child at age 9 and it was the generous donations of a dying child family that’s saved his life at 68 years. Seven other people were saved with the child’s other organ transplants. Bobby dedicated his time and talent the last ten years to promoting organ donation.
Truly gifts that keep giving.

Yeah! “London Calling”. - Don’t think The Clash ever covered anyone, much less Bobby Rydell. But Bobby did chart the Top Ten with Wild One in the U.K. in ‘63 and influenced Macca to write The Beatles’ She Loves You in ‘64.
Live is Wild.

Oh yes they did. 'Toots' Mayall's 'Pressure Drop' and one their US self-titled album (1979 release) they covered 'I Fought the Law' by Bobby Fuller Four.

IF anyone would have known @starpunk, it would have been You! - Great waking up to Volare, transitioning through Toot’s & Maytal’s reggae sound and then, making the commute with The Clash.
Peace always, Brother! -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7seu5KXBUuc

I grew up with the Clash, and their 1979 US self-titled album is a bonafide classic. I got into 'Toots' later on. In 2020 he released an excellent critically acclaimed CD starring several guests incl. Zak Starkey (son of Ringo Starr) and Ziggy Marley. It's called 'Got To Be Tough:'. Sad to say, it would be his last. CoVid took Toots' life exactly one week after the CD release. It was either August or September 2020, a CoVid vaccine had not been found yet.
