Oh another racially diverse, politically sensitive series.

although Netflix is the best streaming site of them all along with Prime, the quality of shows today, what with directors and script writers having their hands tied as they do regarding all kinds of social issues and other things, means the golden age of tv is over somewhat.

As has been mentioned you are wrong about this. TV for many decades was not racially or sexually diverse because scriptwriters had their hands tied. Now they don’t.

You don’t have to like it, but you have to accept that a great number of people do and that society is changing.

More people watched this show than voted for the previous President for example.

I couldn’t agree more, I’ll pass.

The previous record was 76 million views over a four-week period for "The Witcher."

Was pretty excited until I read that, lol.

According to this site, user reviews show terrible results.

Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking about giving it a try.

What is the point of this show in 2020/21? It has nothing to offer except for being a awful version of a Jane Austin novel. The writing is poor, the script awful and acting stunted. I'm black British and found it too cringey to watch.

Well, that's what I was afraid of. It's a pass for me.

"Bridgerton" has made the top 10 in every country except Japan, the company added.

I wish Japan makes movies/TV series that also get to top 10 in every country. Oh, wait, we have anime. Nevermind.

I think you're getting things a bit backwards, given that directors and writers have the freedom to address way more social issues than they used to. The show in question is a great example of the creators having the freedom to do things their way and address the issues they want to address in a way they probably couldn't have done 10 years ago.

I look forward to Japan suddenly catching up in 5 years time, just in time for the final season. ;-)
