What I always liked about Burt Reynolds is that he was a good-looking guy with a great sense of humor. He wasn't afraid to poke fun at himself on film, and he didn't take himself incredibly seriously. He was the real deal. We need more people like him these days.

"My movies were the kind they show in prisons and airplanes, because nobody can leave" - Burt Reynolds

RIP

Well is sad to see that Burt has died, I am sure he's going to causing hell some where with Jackie Gleason still "hot pursuit" of the bandit, and Burt will of course will be with Jerry reed, and Pat Mc Cormick causing all sorts of mayhem, RIP Burt you sadly be missed.

Burt Reynolds at the movies, Jimmy Carter in the White House, John Denver on the 8-track and Farrah Fawcett's teeth in every dorm room in America. The 1970s sure were swell.

Always confused Burt Reynolds with Tom Selleck as a kid. Something about those moustaches. RIP

Heh, me too. I loved canonball. Rip.

A good actor who was very funny and self depreciating.

Some photos of his life. That moustache really aged him as soon as he decided to keep it. I'd forgotten he didn't have a moustache in Deliverance. And my god, he looks so much like Marlon Brando in the second photo.

I'm surprised he lasted this long. He looked terrible these past few years. Good memories from the 70s and 80s.

RIP Burt. I loved that guy when I was a kid. I just watched Deliverance again recently.

The last thing I recall seeing him in was Archer a few years back. He wrote a lot of that script. My favorite.

Archer: "I can't believe I almost punched you!"

Burt (as himself, laughing confidently): "No you didn't"

Bye bye bandit.

Burt Reynolds always struck me as an amiable sort who took his work seriously but not himself. I imagine that comes from having to take jobs as a dockhand, dance-hall bouncer, bodyguard and dish washer to pay the rent when he was young.

Both Deliverance and Boogie Nights are terrific films and he certainly proved he could act. It's a shame he didn't get more of a chance to show what he was capable of. RIP.
