Hey! Maybe it was a good year!
There is a reason production companies want a longer gap between releases from theaters to streaming sites. Sometimes when a movie comes out, you really want to see it as soon as possible, and if it's not streaming at home, you'll dish out the cash to see it at a theater. If it's out simultaneously, you'll most likely save the cash and check it out home.

Rubbish in, rubbish out. Rinse, repeat, recycle.

Nothing new, the same old, same old.

Time for the certain facets of the industry to adapt, like others have. Most streamed series these days are as good if not better than the movies, and are basically "free". I enjoy seeing movies, but the cost cannot be justified, especially in Japan, and with the majority of flicks in the theater being complete garbage. Did you know it's now 1900 for a general admission ticket? They have no business sense here at all. Lower it to 1000 and you'd get triple the people, actually making a profit.
Anyway, was looking forward to the 007 movie, but after two delays... nah. I'll wait for it to come out on Netflix or Amazon. They'll probably half none of the audience they would have if they had put it out after the initial delay, in November. Sure, Tenet tanked a bit, but still.

Streaming is booming
It's the same Hollywood studios that produce them
People still watch
Strangerland
I for one will be very sad to see cinema/theaters disappear
And I'll enjoy watching them spring back up.
It's not like humanity suddenly found something better, or stopped liking going to the theater. We're just taking a break.
