I look forward to "The Hangover" being described as the white male version of "Girls' Trip".

I for one have had more than enough of super hero films and big blockbuster action movie sequels. No more transformers or spider mans please!

Pretty much every movie mentioned in this article is terrible. As are most of the superhero movies. Lots of great movies being made in other places, though.

I've zero interest in superhero movies. I saw a Batman movie in the 90's and hated it. They are all the same: villain tries to take over the city / country / world, superhero uses his superpowers to stop him after a lot of explosions, fighting and smashing stuff up. The End.

There aren't many comedies nowadays that keep me intrigued the entire movie. I enjoy Kevin Hart movies but how many "short" jokes do we need? The last comedy that I thoroughly enjoyed was "We're The Millers."
Strangerland
Not Captain America Civil War.

Lol amy shumer? star? Maybe in an episode of the twilight zone.
There it is. Pandering to the foreign markets aka greedy need to hit that magical one billion at the box office is what's ravaging hollyweird. Ahh that and regurgitated past successes that everyone is oh so tired of. Snow White in pure HAD anyone?

I watched this last for the first time. The wife kept saying Civil War with Morton Downey and I'm thinking to myself, "huh, he did a Civil War movie, interesting." Only realizing at the start that it was a Marvel flick. Yeah, that's how much I keep up with these movies. LOL
Anyway, I would say that movie should be called...
Captain America Civil War. Part 1
Because we all know what's coming next.
Captain America Civil War. Part 2
Villain tries to take over the city / country / world, REUNION, superhero uses his superpowers to stop him after a lot of explosions, fighting and smashing stuff up. The End.

You do know you don't have to watch it,right?
clamenza

Seems you didn't follow the thread.

Why is an article about comedy topped by a photo of Will Ferrell?

I haven't seen a comedy in years that has made me laugh. Many are too formulaic, predictable, or overdone.
We need really good comedians/writers who have timing, pause, originality and an excellent sense of humor make movies unimpeded by studio heads.
I don't even know if a studio can make a funny movie anymore. It'll be left up to independent writers/movie makers.

I had stopped laughing the way that my mental integrity could be questioned, thus rendering 98% comedies a wasted budget (for me, for us, that is). I'd rather funds go into Superhero drama, thrillers, detectives whatever. A good comedy is a noted part of the decent cinematography, not a "well-established" genre.
That said, if the same amount of money, going to the third-to-second rate comedies (first exist? never heard of them), starts going into the superhero-film industry, then it will also begin being taken for granted and here goes all the message behind the screen. Better drop comedies and invest into healthcare and social sphere. Heroes will manage.

Nothing to worry about; comedy as mass entertainment pre-dates Shakespeare and they will survive the superhero era as they did the westerns, gangster movies and war movies.
Sure but there are plenty of enjoyable variations and parodies:
Kick Ass, Darkman, The Crow, Super, The Incredibles, Hellboy, Robocop, Blade, Unbreakable, Watchmen, Birdman, Midnight's Children...

As ya grow older and have more experience, less stuff ya find funny anymore - there's only so many jokes ya haven't encountered before

Which is why I often go old school. Chaplin, The Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd.
If Duck Soup can't elicit a few belly laughs at least - then there's no hope :-)
