I went into her store a few months ago. I was wandering around in Shibuya and saw this store which really stood out. I went in and browsed around. Loved the tiger which served as a counter... I asked if I could take pictures and the guy said, "Sure, no problem." Well, something to that effect in Japanese. I wondered who this Wakatsuki Chinatsu was as I hadn't heard of her before or since... Thank goodness, she made the news!

Wakatsuki said on her blog this week that she has married an older man,

She has been around the tarento scene for at least 7 years. I thought it was interesting that her name is Thousand Summers, and young moon. A lot of nature.

Another tarento pregnant, shotgun wedding, and the cryptic nature of describing her husband sounds like something has gone down there too? (Older man, company employee, Im guessing affair, got pregnant, got a divorce). What kind of role model are these people for young Japanese?

That is great for the older guy. I hope many more younger women would consider older men too. Most mature older men knows how to take care of a woman. Like the old saying goes, old broom knows all the corner.

I hate to say it, but if the current trend continues I hope she takes home some divorce papers just to have them ready for next year. Seems pretty clear it was a shotgun wedding more than anything, although if they are truly in love of course I wish them the best.

Seems to me the rule of marriage first then pregnancy later came from a stupid time when it was illegal to have sex outside of marriage, among other sexual and dating practices, and if either parent condemned a wedding it was off.

Well, despite how some of you might long for that very unfree time of social meddling, today you can date and have sex with pretty much anyone you want, so long as both are willing. And so, unplanned pregnancies are to be expected. Face it, a lot of you just got lucky if you look back on all the sex you had out of wedlock. And that is your moral highground? Please.

Its plenty that they are taking responsibility for the life they created. That is the height of morality, not stupid rules of marriage before pregnancy, that sound like they are straight from elementary school kids' vision of adult life.

Yes and no. Average overall divorce rate is about 37 percent. Average divorce rate for dekichatta marriage is 44 percent. Not much difference. But for women 20 to 24 the dekichatta marriage divorce rate is about 63 percent. But for women 30 to 34 its an amazingly low 12.1 percent!

Taking responsibility by getting married? talk of responsibility before making a baby without having any plans about it. I've seen so many couples getting married over this, just because it's a social embarrassment not to, not because they are "responsible adults." Anyways, I hope Wakatsuki will have a great marriage life and will become a great mother! She seems nice and smarter than most talento I've heard on TV.

You read minds? Are you quite sure their reasons were not "all of the above"? And do you know that people who have the sentiments to feel embarrassed tend to be responsible? Most humans operate that way. Its a paltry handful that are self-actualized enough to do the right thing without a thought for what society thinks.

For the rest of your post, you should re-read what I wrote. The Victorian era is over. Times have changed. We must adjust. And the main adjustment needed is in sex education, and the main lesson needs to be "How not to be a daddy." I accomplished that for many years without drugs, condoms or surgeries, for myself and my partners. And I have a kid to prove I am not sterile. The best sex ed did for me was get me on the right track. I had to figure out much too much for myself and no one should have to. Most people don't have the capacity.

I don't think anyone has the full picture. There is a chance that they were just having sex (i.e. having fun), and not actually planning a family. Their relationship may not last, and hence the morality you suggest they have is out the window. Children need to be cared for in a loving environment, not one that COULD turn into resentment of being tied to someone that you find out you don't actually love. Kids aren't disposable, you have them for life.

However, fingers crossed that they live happily ever after.

This woman would ne nobody in the US, our celebrities have to go to "Fame" style schools and work really hard to get famous but this woman is just famous for marrying a mystery man and being pregnant. Too easy!
