I just love how people would comment without doing a little googling.

Below is from the internet:

The lion’s share of Black Myth: Wukong’s sales are domestic, given that over 90% of all user reviews are written in Chinese and that the peak player count occurs during local time. The game currently has over 280k user reviews on Steam, with 96% of them being positive.

Also below from the internet:

SINGAPORE: It’s been a rollercoaster ride for China’s lucrative gaming industry these past two months.

From a surprise announcement of planned tighter curbs, to industry turmoil and a US$80 billion market sell-off, followed by damage control and the eventual backpedalling by the national watchdog - there has been plenty of drama.

Video games are not banned in China. The government tries to restrict the time non adults can play each week. The story is too long so I interested just google yourself.

You sound like you've been playing video games too much lol

The Journey to the West story is great fun to read. Of course there have been many Japanese adaptations of the story. I'm not a gamer but it certainly would be fun to play Sun Wukong with his cloud flying and 金箍棒 cudgel wielding to vanquish demons.

how insecure does a govt have to be to ban chatting about "COVID-19", "isolation" or "quarantine" in the game...wtf

You must not play video games. I play PUBG, and 99% of lobbies are chinese.

What are you talking about? Hillbilly comment.

One hit wonder.

This success shows part of the rich cultural heritage China can offer the world. China has much more to share but only maliciously eclipsed by Western propaganda stigmatizing China. This milestone signifies the beginning of overdue redress.

Well done China, keep going..

This discredits the notion China can't promote itself globally. Well if the bookings following the games release is anything to go by China has proven it can project itself like Japan and Korea without the help of the West.

It's great to see a modern game with all the bells and whistles inspired by the stories that were a big part of my childhood. Probably wore out the VHS of 大闹天宫 I watched a million times back in the day. Might even still have some of the picture book adaptations of 西游记 (Journey to the West) purchased from a book shop in the Liverpool Chinatown. I wonder if Black Myth has some of the classic antagonists like 铁扇公主 and 牛魔王. I'd love to give it a try.

Chinese culture is often very cool.

It’s the authoritarian CCP that are a disaster.

Chinese governments across 4,000+ years of history have been authoritarian, some better than others.

This one must be the worst as peasants can no longer claim the emperor is far away.

This authoritarian government has delivered the most to the Chinese masses and thus has earned the masses' support. Is it perfect? Far from it but that could be said about all governments.

Trust in government:

China - 89%

USA - 42%

Japan- 33%

The trust in government figure would be a lot more reliable if they didn't have a gun to their head/were subjected to massive brainwashing.
