Bono (referenceagain) has also said that thruout all time rock'n'roll has always been, was in 1983, was now (in 1987) full of ScheiBe. And it's true. And the crud that doesn't matter won't be remembered in the decades later.
Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, done all that before.
I saw a Coldplay show recently on cable TV while waiting at a Goodyear to get new tires for my car. They were playing vapid U2-wannabe music to a crowd of upturned empty blank sheep faces in Rio. A giant video screen above them was showing 'cosmic' colorful swirlings and colorful morphings in a lame attempt a la of what I saw at the (Jeff Lynne's) ELO concert in 2019. But it was all just mindless aimless doddering, certainly nothing like the famous ELO iconic starship or any of the stars or planets it 'visited' while the music was being played.
And when these images morphed into a woman embracing and kissing her BF while blindfolded, I changed the channel, I had enough. I don't get off on that stupid kinky stuff, I hate it.
They don't come close to the inspiration of the above mentioned bands, not King Crimson, and certainly not RUSH which sometimes had sci-fy lyrical themes. Coldplay falls completely flat in the attempt, a flop. Chumps!

“…a spacy 12-track collection with waves of synth and airy melodies …’
Nothing new here: try Hawkwind ‘Space Ritual’ from 72.
And ‘music of the spheres’, a line from ex-Hawkwind Nik Turner’s 2006 Space Ritual group album ‘Otherworld’.
At least Chris Martin’s ex-wife’s film husband spent some time in space in one of those Avengers movies.

*Bono himself has slammed these chumps, something he rarely does. Bono *knows
Bono? That old hypocrite and sellout?

Nah, music was well on the downslope by then.
So my dad told me.

Yes there is but Coldplay ain't one of them. They're a 10th generation U2 wannabe band and not a very good one at that. I love U2, seen them twice but they have 'inspired' a lot of junky imitators too. And Bono himself has slammed these chumps, something he rarely does. Bono knows. Coldplay blows.

There's good music out there, you just have to search for it.

So much modern music is rubbish. 1990 to around 2005 was when it all happened. It’s just gone downhill from there. Feel free to disagree or give me a thumbs down!
