“You know what that makes me? “- Tanner Howard

“No, that makes me a Comanche. “ -Tanner Howard

From the movie Hell or High Water.

Can't Hollywood come up with anything new these days? It's all Marvel, DC Comics or a sequel / prequel/ postquel. It's almost as bad as what's shown on japanese TV.

They can't come up with anything original because there's so many crap writers who would rather depend on the popularity of an existing franchise to sell rather than develop their own original story. It's lazy and a fast way to make a buck because you know the shills will pay for it.

Sounds like this sequel's priority is to make a political statement about diversity then develop a story around it. Problem is, the writers are crap and the premise is dumb.

Take an advanced, high tech alien from a warrior society and pit him against indigenous people in the 1800[s armed with bows, arrows, and spears. So we're going to get a debilitated predator who'll use primitive weapons to fight the indigenous girls and lose to them. It's woke.

There is nothing new under the sun. It’s not because of ‘woke’. It’s because every story has basically been told.

It’s like complaining McDonald’s still sell BigMacs.

Those complaining on every entertainment section story with ‘yawn’, ‘who?’ etc are always rather reticent to share what they value as good entertainment.

Go ahead, tell us what was the last great movie you watched. Don’t be shy.

When I first read about the plot I thought it might be interesting as I like the Predator movies but now you mention it I probably shouldn't get my hopes up.

Me too. Loved the first two films. Let me retract. Okay...maybe the predator won't lose to her but she'll put up such a good fight that she'll earn its respect and get a 'gift' that will make her the alpha male or they'll take her with them in their spaceship.

Woke crap from writers without an original idea in their heads.

When I said original it's about putting your own mark on an archetype because yes, every basic story has been told. We've seen lot's of mob movies but the good ones are original in their own way. When you put gender or diversity politics first, you get a bad movie.

Still lot's of great movies. I've posted about them before. Go ahead and take a shot. Don't be shy.

So, Predator 2.

Maybe you don't want to watch these movies but millions do and that's why they make so many of them, they have the pulse of the people. Movies are subjective just like music or food etc.

How does this movie fit into the Predator franchise ?

Not a good take for a Mentat with the agenda. The original had a collection of 80's he-men with chain guns being taken out by the Predator.

Only when Arnold 'went native' and utilized the natural landscape did he get the drop on the Predator.

Can you at least watch the movie first before you past judgement, it might not be great. But how do you know?

I'm interested in seeing some different faces on screen, I love the Tomb Raiders movies (strong female lead in an action movie), and as father of two daughters the more powerful female role models the better.

Looking forward to watching it, I hope the young heroine give the predator a run for its money. It will have to be a strong example of asymmetric warfare for her to even survive.

Its a prequel, set over 200 years before the first predator movie.

A vast amount of Hollywood product is written, censored or "advised" by the Pentagon and the CIA, hence the seemingly endless thematic repetition.

I miss the subversive, thrilling cinema which came out mostly in the 70's like "Three Days of the Condor", "The Conversation" and "The Parallax View".

Prequel, sequel, prequel, sequel... pffff...

Can't decadent/pathetic Hollywood invent anything else than a saga already so rehashed and predictable??...

Keep waiting with adolescent excitement and a box of tissues for the movie of the glorious Trump's biography..

Co-starring Stormy Daniels, loooool !!!..

just another...nothing....

I get what you're saying, but this lady is pretty badass in other series she's been in (Legion). I think it'll be watchable... well at least as much as the other Predator sequel movies...

Yet the majority of the movie featured automatic weapons, grenades, claymores, etc. Only the last 10 minutes had Arnold going native not a 5'5" native girl who looks to weigh 120lbs fighting a predator in a 140min film. Dutch was the leader in Predator 1 for a reason.

Usually I agree that you need to watch to pass judgement and I'm obviously jumping the gun as many movie goers do nowadays as we get several trailers that usually give us a good glimpse to help us decide to pay and watch it or not. Based on the trailers, it's clear it'll be nowhere as good as P1 & P2. Aside from P1 & P2, every other entry in the franchise has been pretty bad. It's not even going to be a theatrical release instead streamed which means the budget will be limited so we're probably going to get a lot of low-budget CGI. Sounds like just another mediocre 'meh' kind of film so I'm going to pass unless my son insists I watch it with him.

At least she doesn't 'seem' like a completely badly written Mary Sue character like Capt. Marvel or Rey from Disney's SWs. But I don't think she'll be on even footing with Sarah Connor or Ellen Ripley.

I loved a few of the Predators and also the crossovers. This one might be ok too, but still was a bit concerned at her "battling sexism in her own tribe"(there was sexism in NA culture in the 1700's?) and the Comanche translation (must be a massive audience for that one).

Still, will likely go and see it.

Prequel film "Prey," out Friday on Hulu in the United States

Hulu doesn't time their releases Worldwide like Netflix so it won't be on Japan's Hulu. I heard it will be on Disney+ in Japan.

So many of you showing your age.

There have been more than a few generations of new movie viewers since you started watching movies.

Even if it is not a "new" idea for you it will be the first itme some viewer see this take on an "existing franchise".

Remember the first movies you saw as a kid? Probably wasn't as original as you thought back then.

Lighten up a bit.
