For all his public success (or maybe because of it) I don't think Kato's private life has been all that wonderful - late marriage, divorce, illness. Normally I'm not keen on spring-autumn marriages, but in this case I hope his new young wife gives him a new lease on life and that they get to celebrate his centenary together surrounded by a passel of little ones.

I'm sure it's all about love - nothing to do with the money he has or the fact he may well kick the bucket soon. Anyway, the bloke has won his lottery - I guess every 68 year old man dreams of marrying a girl in her early 20s - why would he stick to senior citizen women in retirement homes? He's probably a player.

People marry for all kinds of different reasons. Poeple often pooh - pooh marriages of this nature, but I'd say that neither person is under any illusions about what they are getting themselves in to. The old guy gets to tap into the fountain of youth as a last hurrah, and the woman marries into financial security, and a relatively short married life - with all that entails. It's not up to anybody else to condemn them for it.

It is NOT UP TO YOU to decide what age someone's parents should be! I am 30 and Mr. BlueWitch is 38 but if he was 48 or 58 or 68, I would have marry him still....because age does not define someone.

However, because of the times we are living now we have to be careful with the golddigging/money issues, unfortunately. Long time ago, we didn't have to. Love was mainly the reason, even when the age gap was remarkable.

Is she really married him because she loves him, then good for her!! I wish her happiness and long life!

Personaly the gold digging concern means nothing to me. Unless she robs his kids from previous marraiges of any inheritance (if he has any), but frankly he can live in a fools paradise if he wants to , it's only money.

I am simply stating that a person that is already struggling with illness having a child so late in life increases the chance that their child will have to go through their life without a dad.. missing out on the times & events they would share together, the advice & support he might have given, and possibly losing their best friend and playmate while still a child. It can be a source of regret for the parent and child.

As I already mentioned, that is still better than not being born at all, and his wealth and situation will mean that his kid is unlikely to want for many of the things that other children lack. I wouldnt judge him as being either right or wrong for deciding to have a child, I can only state what my own concerns would be in his condition.

I take care of my health for the sake of my family, so I can play with my son, and live as long as possible with them. I know what it is like to lose a parent at a young age, and I have seen friends that lost their own fathers when teens act bitterly when observing the good relations their peers have with their fathers. I also observe the relationship of my own father (61) with his 90 year old mother (his father having lived to 92), and feel very happy for him he had his parents for so long. If I was Kato-san I would regret being so old and ill if I were to have a child, and would consider the impact of my likely early death on that child.

Good luck to them but it does beg the question if they have kids. Whose nappy will she change first?

No worries there my friend, I called her a golddigger at first because I was like...damn..he's filthy rich and 68? LOL But then someone mentioned she's from a nice rich family herself so, yeah..why not, right?

About babies...well..it's their own decision ultimately and it depends whether they wish to have a baby or not.

The females in my family have the tendency to marry older guys, for generations. Would you be surprised if I told you that my grandmother (mother's side) married at the age of 17 my grandfather who was 52?! That's right... A very HUUUGE age gap in there but hey, they married because they sure loved each other, 40+ years of marriage plus 8 children including one set of twins proved that. My only regret is that my grandpa died(i think he was 94?) when I was 10? and Grandma still doing fine but alone. For what its worth, I would go crazy if Mr.BlueWitch die before me..

Even when the age gap is 10, 20, 30 or 45 like in this case, what matters the most if how truly they love each other. How devoted are they in their relationship, because at the end TRUE LOVE does not have a color, age, race or creed.

I beg to differ....when my maternal granparents got married (she was 17, he was 52) neither of them was rich. In fact they were dirt-poor and had to work the fields and such. Very decent country side people. But then, we are talking about 50 years ago? They were married for 40+ years and had 8 kids. Love was REAL and plenty. and believe it or not, it was my grandmother who pursued my grandfather and asked him to marry her. He wasn't very sure because of the age gap, but after several months of courtship, he finally caved in. LOL

I think good for the geezer. High five! As for the girl, she is old enough to decide for herself, and if this is what she likes, great.

He was part of a tv program recently with Atsushi (London Boots) where they had set up a go-kon situation with girls that age. Kato was truly shy and embarrassed throughout the program by the "unreservedness" of these young women. The girls and Atsushi really tried hard to give him a good time but he kept repeating that he was not used to those kind of women. He acted really weird when he was asked to hold the hand of one of these young ones. Weird guy! In other news: I've heard that he's a real bully among his colleagues especially the younger generation. Demanding respect at ridiculous levels... Wasn't it Shinsuke who was reprimanded and not allowed to appear on tv for half a year because he had disrespected Kato?
